  • So, if anyone is having any issues seeing all the images in the Voting Thread, try doing a hard refresh of that browser page. You can do this with either ctrl+r or ctrl+F5. That should clear any cache issues and the images should be visible. Please let me know if you are having this problem and it doesn't work.

@gerterasmus I have no idea why it's doing that. All images are showing when I look at the link whether I'm logged in or not. Is this something that just started happening today? I haven't heard of anyone else having a problem seeing the images so I'm not sure if it's an internet issue or a forum issue. I'll look into it and see if Richard might have an idea what the problem is, but at this point I'd say give it a couple of hours and try again in a bit?

Is anyone else having the same problem seeing the images in the voting thread that @gertasmus is having? Please let me know.

I'm still seeing all the images, but I did notice that when I looked at the thread on computers with a slower/more intermittent internet connection, it wouldn't load all (sometimes any) of them.

I have the same problem due, I believe, to a slow internet connection.

  • @Knittingmommy It's not just today. Been doing it since the start. That's why I was trying to go to the entry thread, so I can at least see them. Slow Internet is probably due to this: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/internet/336416-how-south-africas-internet-survived-cable-breaks.html Problem is, the exact same images that won't open on my laptop also don't open on my phone or on my PC at work.

Voted. I basically just decided to pretend I couldn't vote for my own entries, because otherwise I'd have to compare them to everyone else's more directly, and that way lies despair!

And thank you, Knttingmommy and everyone else involved with running this contest. I've done this type of thing before, and I know what a herculean task it can be, so thanks for taking this on yet again.

  • Okay, I just spent the last two hours updating the Voting Thread. I added links to each image's title text. If the image doesn't load on your page, click on the image title, and it should take you to a new window and load just that one image which should save on resources for slower internet services. Let me know if this works like I think it will. I don't have slow internet so I can't test to see if this will solve your problem. It's the only thing I can think of to do without unhiding the Entry thread and still keep everything sort of annonymous.

@gerterasmus and xmasrose (aka tulipe) Let me know if doing this helps. If it does, I'll start doing this in future contests as a workaround.

Maybe next year create a table of blank thumbnails in sufficient number (it can always be expanded), say 256x256 per thumbnail and the entries 2 columns to 4 colums x ?? rows. Each new entry has to be added to the table. Click on the thumbnail to see the full size image in the gallery in the user's gallery. Below that thumbnail is a second linked voting image that takes the user directly to the line on the Survey monkey line for that entry.

It's more work to set up for sure and really only makes it easier to vote for potential voters.

I'll have to think about that. It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out how to do something like that and it sounds like a good idea. I'll make a note to work on that before September when I'm starting to get into gear for the next contest. Thanks for the idea. It's a reasonably sound idea.

I can help you set up the table & such. It's not hard. The "Top Likes" in my signature shows an example. As I've done in Novica's Product Review Thread when people make an entry next year they can include the actual entry in the DAZ Gallery in a mini-table with a thumbnail that is linked to the DAZ gallery.

Then, in the IRM Entry Thread in the Art Studio they make only one post for all their entries but with different tables for different images. And different tables with the same image entered in different categories. That post then will have a table of all of their entries in a seperate tables in one post. They just include a link to the DAZ Gallery thumbnail for the image(s) in their IRM entry category table(s) and that image(s) is linked to the actual gallery page.

Then you'll have in one post per user that has entered all entries with multiple tables for each category for each image for the poster of that post all the reference data you will need for that user and their entries to make your survey monkey survey & your excel spreadsheet.

Easier to vote on smart phones that way too.

  • @nonesuch00 Looks good. I'll definitely hit you up for some advice on doing that soon.

Thank you very much @Knittingmommy but it was already possible, at least in my browser, to right click on either the image if half loaded or on the empty slot to get to open the image. The thumbnails seem to be a good idea.

Voted. Great work people and thank you Knittingmommy for a fantastic contest. First big one I have joined around here and it was great fun working under set conditions, inspirational so to say. I'll definitely be back next year if you host again :)

  • Managed to vote this morning, with 30 minutes to spare. Thanks @Knittingmommy for the links, it helped a lot. Good luck everyone, you didn't make it easy.

Um, voting ends tonight so you still had some time. I'm glad you were able to vote though. :)  That's probably my fault because I'm always messing up that DazMidnight thing. So if anyone thought voting ended last night, you're in luck. You've got until tonight to vote!

I am so glad I voted early on! smiley

  • And, voted. Kept putting it off because I knew it would be hard to decide :) . Thanks to everyone who donated prizes to this, to all the participants, and especially to Knittingmommy for organizing all of this once again!

  • Voting is officially closed and I'm sorting through the results. I'll have the winners very soon! Thank you all for participating in the annual It's Raining Men Contest.
