How would you fix this shading issue

Trying to get the right shading, look

Currently when I render the surface is duller, and there is some grit in the shading (see pic). The second image with smoother shading, and the more metallic look is what I'm going for. (it was a screen shot).

What settings would you start tweaking and in what direction?

    It looks like it is using UBER lighting or a Shader based lighting, for those Samples might need to be upped, if set to 32 go 64, if at 64 go up to 128. It also looks like you wish to get a Preview from the Viewport as output from the render engine. That will mean adjusting the Surface settings on the figure (which will change in the viewport) until the render matches. It looks like Specular and reflection will need to be adjusted until the render matches the quality your after.

    Hey it just sank in something else that you mentioned... I need to sync my viewport ouput with my render output. So that what i see is what I get in the render.

    Is there a standard way of tackling this?

    No. your Viewport is a OpenGL display from your Video Card. The 3Delight Renders do not use the Video Card (GPU) at all. So you must play with lighting and surfaces to get the output to the level you want. Even the OpenGL render settings in DAZ Studio may not match your viewport. I never render in less than a full 3Delight render. It takes time to learn but it is time well spent if you ask me. I use the SPOT render tool to adjust things until the Spot render is what I wish the full render to look like.

    @blue6string:
    Don't know exactly what you mean, but is it about Show Aspect Frame ?
    Have you switched that on?
