Problems in importa a .dae file
Hello guys, i made a simple work with Trimble Sketchup and I saved it like a .dae file in order to import it in Daz Studio. But when i open it in Daz, it doesn't appear in the workspace, although this dae file is in the object list (where the are figures, etc...). What's the matter?

I tried once to import a .dea-file from Google Sketchup into DS, Poser and Vue and it came in different and not at all correct in any of those programs. But other collada exports from sketchup works. Try .obj to see what you get, I did that and saw that it looked weird even then, polygons with bad normals, crossing/overlapping etc. I didn't make the model so I just could see how it looked.
If it is loading...and shows up in the Scene listing, then have you checked the scale?
It could be coming infinitely tiny...or so large that what you see in the viewport is actually inside the item.
It is much better to Convert the dae into OBJ then import that into DS. You then get a Option for which default file size to import at. And most Sketch up models are LARGER that DAZ Studio and Poser defaults and not smaller. I've never tried the dae option. I always convert to Wavefront Object file to import to other programs.
Sketchup DAE files are a bit iffy in DS, depending on which build of the exporter your using as to how much work you will have to do to get them to show in DS.
Some versions will give you a DAE that in DS will only load as a null, with no geometry of any kind, those files need quite a bit of internal butchery work to get them to work in DS, some will load the mesh into DS in the form of a lot of props with dozens of nulls, these are usually invisible in DS as their materials have opacity strength set to zero.
there is an obj export plugin for SKP8 at sketchucation
I find it hard to get a link with android and you need to join (free) to get it anyway.
Ok guys thanks for all the answers and excuse me for not responding them before. Now, i exported the file in .dae then i converted it in an ,obj file. It works in DS but i don't know how to load also the textures: when i save the as dae, sketchup gives me the .dae file plus a folder with all the textures.. What shall i do?
Up...
set all materials, does it come with a mtl file, check that for where the textures is supposed to be relative to the obj
Yes, i have the .obj file, the .mtl file and a folder with the textures. What shall i do?
Open the .mtl (with notepad) and check if the paths are correct.
