Daz cannot find any content & is unuseable.
One day on start up I receive messages "file could not be found" and "error occurred while reading file" messages. All content is gone in interphase. All files however, still on hard drive in correct installation path.
I recently cleaned up an external hard drive and fear some vital file (maybe one of those Thumbs thingys) may have been stored there in error and subsequently erased.
I uninstalled Daz and all content, then reinstalled S4.6. The Bridge to Photoshop elements generated error messages and failed to download.
Now start up scene will not open as a specific Genesis file "does not exist". Content does appear in interphase, but If I try to open any of it I get: "some assets needed to load file are missing. Figure may not work as expected." A strange, simple figure made of square blocks appears with no pose controls.
There are two primary Daz folders in my Documents. DAZ 3D contains Install Manager. My DAZ 3D Library contains everything else. The latter is not a sub-folder of the former.
Any ideas?

In DS, Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats", and post a screenshot. Are you installing with DAZ Install Manager?
Screen grab attached as instructed.
And yes, installing with Install Manager.
The DIM installs by default into : C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
You will need to add that path to the Content Directory Manager if that is where you installed to, or the correct path if you installed somewhere else.
Actually, DIM automatically installed C:\Users\My Name\Documents\My Daz 3D Library. Not public.
DIM installed ITSELF in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Daz 3D.
I added the My Name path to the Content Directory Manager in DS4. Didn't work.
Then I copied the My Daz 3D Library folder into Public\Documents so path is perfect.
I added that path to Content Directory Manager too. Didn't work either.
Still receiving the same "File does not exist" error messages (or sim) when I try to access any content.
But it seems to me, on start up, Daz is trying to READ the wrong path. I'm attaching the error message again.
How do I change that?
Later:
So I figured it out. I had to change the Poser formats installation path in Content Directory Manager as well as Daz Studio Formats. Then content appeared.
In addition I had to browse for and change the installation path for Load File in Startup under Preferences (from Edit) to avoid the startup error message.
Just fyi.
Yes, both Poser Formats AND DAZ Studio Formats must have the same path to the content folder.
The startup scene is trying to load from your My Library folder, AND it is trying to load Genesis.DSF which no longer exists, it is now Genesis.DUF (the new format).
Glad you got it working, you should have no further problems.
