Converting 3d into 2d printable pattern for inflatable costume

Hi all im trying to take a bear model/object and convert it into a 2d printable file so that i can scale it up in 2d and then cut it out in fabric to make a giant inflatable costume. Ive tried plushify.net and its awful so if anyone can help as i have very little 3d skills or if anyone could actually do the leg work i would be willing to pay as im going to need 6 doing in total. Thanks in advance

Have you tried just printing out the diffuse maps?

You say costume so is somebody going to wear this when you are done ?

  • In D/S you can create a "plane" [uvmaps are normally worked out on squares], apply the uvmap or diffuse maps to it, render out the images.

What a great idea. Need to try it for myself.

Do not forget about extra areas for the seams, to be easily sewn/glued afterwards.

  • Has anyone here actually done this? We've been making inflatables, but so far we've made the patterns based off of plushies, other patterns, or simple shapes we could easily pattern manually, and I'm looking into ways to generate patterns from 3d models so we can more easily make new types. So far my most promising avenue is using pepakura or plushify.net
