Light in Bungalow ?

Hello,

I just purchased the simple Bungalow.
First irritation: The Bungalow was only under produchts and not additionally under DAZ Studio Formats / Environments too, as other products like the First Bastion "rolling planes" are.
But OK - I can go with it.

And now I found the switch to turn on the ceiling lights. But this only changes the ambient color of the corresponing elements, but there isn't any light in the scene.

Is there something wrong with the commercial product? Shouldn't there be UALs involved?
Somebody allready worked with it?

Andy

I would presume Lights On/Off is just a material preset that does JUST that, sets the ambient level of the lamps. I can't see any mention of a light set so you will need to light the scene yourself.

Yes, providing a material set to make the lights appear to glow and calling it lights on is fairly widespread.

    Hi Richad,

:D perhaps later I have a moment to laugh.

I hoped there is a light set as there are for other setups.
Do you know (as admin) how to directly contact the author of the commercial products? -> maclean

    Hi Andy,

The pther posters are right. The Lamps Off / On presets are materials only and no lights are included. (It states this clearly on the product page). I used to always include light sets, but the additional work of making lights for both Poser and DS (at that price) are just too much.

Remember that if you're in any way unhappy with the product, DAZ will give a no-questions-asked refund within 30 days.

Sorry, but can't find that statement in the shop's product description.

I just started to work with lights. Tonight I finished applying the outside daylight including the diffuse part. Next I'll install the "real" lamps. Perhaps we can work together. In my case for DAZ3D. I only don't know how to couple it with your lights on/off switch.

    It's under 'What's Included & Features'
    Material Options:
    Floorboards / Carpets
    Lamps Off / On

There isn't really a way to couple lights and presets. Depending on your lighting, you can have the preset on, but maybe use Ambient Strength, and turn it down to 'dim' it.

By the way, lighting is one of the difficult and frustrating parts of 3d. You might find my tutorial helpful. It's for an older version of DS, but 95% of it still applies.

    Yes, you're right.
Depending on the scene you have to choose different methods.

    Hallo,

now I succeeded to apply light to the bungalow. Some examples can be found at deviant art.

The light setups are scene subsets and can be easily applyed to the prepared scene in the native bungalow.
