Weird Deformation of Genesis after loading ZBrush Morph

Hi,

I am trying my hand at character creation for the Genesis mesh in Zbrush. I have sculpted my morph, and have loaded the geometry back into Daz 4.6 Pro using the Morph Loader Pro. Now at first everything is ok. I found the Zbrush morph under the parameters tab and it dialed in perfectly

I thought great, this is easy. Then it all went bad... As soon as I try to pose the model the mesh starts deforming in all directions.

Is there anyone who has come across this? Us there steps I need to take in Daz before trying to pose the model...

I am sorry, but I am a noob at this type of character creation..... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks as if your morph has scaled the figure - now you need to adjust the rigging to the new shape, and then link the adjusted rigging to the morph so that is applied automatically.

Set your morph to 100%, with all other morphs zeroed, then go to Edit>Figure>Rigging>Adjust Rigging to shape.... The defaults should work in most cases, so just click Accept and then see if the figure poses correctly.

To link the changes to the shape you still need the morph applied and the rigging in its adjusted state, with everything else zeroed - if you posed the figure to check the adjustments you will want to go to Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure Pose.

Now put the Parameters pane in Edit mode - right-click anywhere on the pane and select edit mode from the menu. Now click on your morph, to select it, then right-click on it and select ERC Freeze.... If you are using the latest versions of DS the dialogue should open with everything set already - the Figure, Node and Property settings should point to your figure and morph, the Freeze properties should just list a series of adjustments to joint centres, and all of the Additional options should be checked. Assuming that's the case, click Accept and make sure your figure is still working, and that it also poses correctly with your morph turned off.

Before saving your morph, right-click on it in the Parameters pane and select Show in Property Hierarchy. Expand the Subcomponents entries under your morph, where you should see all the links to joint centres, and make sure they are set to save with your morph (and not with the joint centre) under Attributes. Assuming that's OK, and you are happy with the results, File>Save as>Support Asset>Morph Asset to save your morph.

Oh thank you Richard! I haven't ever done this before, but I knew there had to be something I was missing along the way!

Much appreciated for your detailed explanation. I have adjusted the rig, and performed the ERC freeze, and has saved as a support asset.
    All is now working well!!!
