Shopping cart problems

I'm having a bit of trouble with my account shopping cart- I added the new freebie "Sun hair" to my shopping cart, but then realized I wasn't logged in yet. Oops. So I logged in, but my cart showed up as empty. I tried to add the item, but it won't let me, I get an error message saying "the maximum quantity allowed is 1". I went to my shopping cart page and it's still showing empty. So why can't I add this item to my cart? It's rather frustrating, given that this item is so time sensitive.

Add another item to your cart, any item, and then the hair will appear.
Now delete the item you added. Make sure that you are logged in of course.
