I'm trying to find how my friend in Ohio and I can work on a animation together using props and figures.

As long as you both have the content used in the scene installed saving as a .duf Scene file will work. For animations of scenes, or to animate a character so that the other can place it in a scene that can't be shared as it has unique content, there are various types of preset under File>Save as.
Thanks a million. :-) My friend was looking for all the great animations that everybody had did using Daz studio, but couldn't find that many. Youtube just showed a bunch of tutorials. He's trying to get me to go the 3D Max or Maya way. Can you give me some compelling arguments why you chose to work with Daz Studio, besides that it starts off free?
For a example of a ALL DAZ Studio 4.6 animation go here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/1088/P105/#383910
I follow Ivy and I myself am creating Animations in DS4.6 Fully myself at this time. Tools and content are needed but Much can be done and only your creativity will limit you.
Maya costs several thousand dollars and needs a pretty high end machine to use it effectively. Daz will run on most laptops just fine and has a lot of free assets and a great and helpful community. It's also very simple to use compared to Maya of course that simplicity comes at the cost of not having as many features as Maya but for me the trade off is worth it.
