I used to know how to do this, but i forgot and can't configure a search to find the answer in the forum archives. Sorry. Mostly learning to do all this stuff is learning what it is called so you can look it up...

Two or more objects that are not touching. I want to be able to move them as if they were one object so that they maintain there relationship to each other.

Thanks

In the scene tab, select the objects you want to move as one. In the create menu, select "new group". You can now move the group object without disturbing the relationship of the individual objects.

There are couple of options, you can select more than 1 object in Scene tab by pressing and holding ctrl key on keyboard and clicking on objects and than use parameters tab to move all selected. However if you have multiple values in parameters tab (say for z translation) and you change it, object will snap to the same value.

You can parent objects to another objects by clicking with right mouse button on them in the scene tab and use change parent option. Than if you move parent, "children" will move as well.

Or you can select more that one object in scene tab and go to Create - New Group with Parent Selected Item(s) to New Group option active and you will make a group of items so you can select group in scene tab and move objects as a group.

thank you. 'group' seems to be the magic word in the search box. :-)
