Prop pulling parent?

Quick question - is it possible for a prop to pull a parent (for example, moving a prop parented to a hand so that it pulls the arm/shoulders)?

I'm finding it difficult to move a prop along a single axis without it shifting around, so I thought it would be easier to move the prop instead of the figure.
