What is the secret with materials - SOLVED

This seems lame to have to ask, but I have purchased a hair style and the companion package with multiple color choices. Double clicked to apply the hair STYLE to my character. Works fine.

The color choices then are seen under Materials for this style, but when I double click the color I want, nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

Can you please add the word 'solved' to the title of your thread?

You have to have the item selected in the Scene pane or viewport first before applying the material, was that your problem?

Yep... user error :-)
