Problem partly solved

First i want to make it clear that the problems with content i have had have been solved thanks to the help i had from Totte.
What has not been solved is the original symptoms that caused me to get into trouble with content. I installed both the new operating system from Apple, called Mavericks and the new version of DS which is 4.6.
Prior to this i had been running Mountain Lion and DS4.5, i had no problems at all.
After the installation of the new OS and DS versions i found that using Daz was extremely sluggish. To the point where it was just impossible to do anything within the programme.
At this point in time i am running Apple OS Mavericks, and DS4.5. I tried using DS 4.6 and found the same problem with sluggishness so reverted to DS4.5. Unfortunately the sluggish behaviour remains. This leads me to think that this problem is not caused by Daz but is due to Mavericks.
Can anyone, maybe other Mac users confirm any problems of a similar nature, and perhaps any resolutions that they may have found.
The only way out that i can see is to revert to Mountain Lion.

I run 10.9 with DS 4.6 on two different machines, a MacBookPro 17" model 2010 and a MacPro 2012 and both runs without any problem.

Have you set the display optimizations under preferences?

A second thing to look at is that some content (clothes) have the Interactive Updates "on" in Smoothing settings which will cause DS to be extremely sluggish. See pictures for both settings.

The first thing to say is that prior to the info regarding display optimisation i had performed a clean install of Mountain Lion, and am now running DS4.6 on that platform. The sluggish behaviour remained. I was going to try DS4.5 when i returned but i found your message and I checked the display Opt. and found that it was not set to best. So i changed it to best and there was a distinct improvement. The big question i suppose is do i know install Mavericks, i suppose i will have to eventually so best bite the bullet before too long, But first i have loads to do having spent almost my entire life this past day or so playing around and generally messing things up with Daz.
    Again my sincere thanks Totte...

You probably had it set to best before, reinstalled and the setting was missing, so my best bet is upgrade to 10.9, you should be good, just continue where you are, no need to reinstall anything else if you do an upgrade.

This machine is running 10.8 now. It started out in 2009 with 10.5. I have just upgraded it, never reinstalled, and I've used the system mover to move the stuff from machine to machine, first from a 2008 MacPro, that was upgraded from a G5, that was upgraded from a G4 machine, that was upgraded from another G4. I have pref files from 2001 on it, it still runs fast, render like a monster ;-)
