I'm new to Daz Studio, but have been a poser user since poser came out years and years ago.

I found Daz has many features similar to poser, but named differently.

What I need to find out is there a way to change a figure for another? In poser you can click on a figure and then click the change figure button and it will load the new figure and keep all the clothes and everything else attached to them. It would be great to know if there is this feature since sometimes I opt for a different figure. I know I could just use Genesis, but I don't really want to. It's great, but I still am in love with other figures and don't want to buy all the morphs right now and have to rebuild all my characters, poses, etc for Genesis. I just want to know if there's a way to swap out one character for another and keep items attached and the animations or poses in tact.

    No such Feature in DAZ Studio for Figures not of the Genesis Type. Only the Genesis figures can do that as most are morphs of the Base shape. Genesis can change to any of its Characters, G2F to its and G2M to its. But others require a full new load of the Figure and then all the proper Parenting of items such of clothing, and then loading of morphs and other items.

    Basically what Jad said and because I'm hardheaded I just tried it. The Character loading option where you can apply a new character to a selected one and keep the clothes, hair and pose seems to work only for Genesis (I haven't tried it with Genesis 2). For Gen 4 figures D|S will just add the figure to the scene :-S

    Darn so there's no fast swapping of one character for another. :( I was kinda afraid of that, but it's something to keep in mind when building scenes in Daz Studio. I'll have to be sure that the character I'm using is the one I actually want in the render.

    Thanks for trying. :) I didn't know if there was any option to do that. Sometimes I decide to use an old Aiko3 instead of Vicky so swapping out the characters is best for me. (Sometimes I don't know as I'm building up a scene who would look best.) It is much easier for me to just hit "change figure" in Poser and replace Aiko with Vicky or vice versa.

    Just don't have the funds right now to get all the Genesis morphs that would allow me to turn Genesis in to G3 characters and the like.

    Sadly yes. Just tried it again with Vicky 4.2 (the first attempt was with Mike 4) and swapping out still didn't happen :-S

    You're very welcome. The store is borked now so I can't check to see the price of the Gen 3 iconic shapes for Genesis; it was on sale. If there's a Black Friday back catalogue catchup sale then the price may come down again.
