What Figure should I buy?

until know I work with V4.2 and what when I want to change? What Figure should I buy??????
1. Genesis
2. Genesis 2 Female(s)
3. V4 Gensis
4. V5
5. V6
6. S5
7. .....
and so on
I don´t know, I think I stay at V4.2
(btw...I need a figure with "real" gens) and that has the possiblity to inject my old v4 character to it (mainly the face)
I also like the shape shift product and would buy it but which one I need depends on which figure I have? where is the difference between them all? Do they not have the same platform that is genesis?

If you have DS Pro in your product library, you also have Genesis, G2Female and G2Male. Just look for the Genesis Starter Essentials and the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials. The first has the Genesis figure and the second has both the G2 Female and Male figures.
If you need genitals the you will need to either by the V5 Pro bundle or the V5/M5 combo bundle. Either of these has the gens. All of the Gen 5 and morphs of the Genesis base figure. V6 and the other Gen 6 females are morphs the G2Female. M6 is a morph of G2Male.
The genitals only come with the pro bundles (with the one exception above).
To get your V4 character to Genesis you pretty much need the GenX plugin and the V4 shape for Genesis. There are ways to do without Gen X and if you look for Kattey's posts you will see a link in her sig on how to do it.
Genesis by default uses the V4 UV's so if you have a large library of V4 textures you won't have a problem. The Gen 5 morphs all have their own UV sets but I believe you can use map transfer. If you go with the G2Female, you will need to buy another product and convert your V4 textures to duf to use them.
Now that I've confused you, have fun.
Let me change your question into two smaller questions:
1. Which figure best suits your needs?
2. Which products will you need to best make use of that figure?
There are really three options as far as figures are concerned (excluding older figures, male figures, and products sold elsewhere):
- Continue using V4.2
- Use the Genesis figure
- Use the Genesis 2 Female figure
Genesis is (as of now, anyway) more compatible with V4.2 than Genesis 2 Female is, so if you want to use V4.2 characters, that might be your best bet. There are advantages of both, however.
If you do opt for Genesis, a shopping list might include:
1. Either the V5 Pro Bundle (or Pro Suite), The Genesis Victoria Michael Combo Bundle, or the Stephanie 5 Pro Bundle - for the geografted gens
2. Genesis Generation X - to transfer your V4 characters
3. V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis - to make Genesis look like V4 (required for best results with GenX)
4. Shape Shift for Genesis - since you mentioned it...plus it's a great product
5. Genesis Starter Bundle - includes the Genesis head and body morphs, plus other useful content (optional but recommended)
If you decide on Genesis 2 Female, your shopping list might include:
1. V6 Pro Bundle - for the gens
2. Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female - to use your V4 skins and clothing
3. V4 Skins Auto Converter for Genesis 2 Female - to convert V4 skins - optional, but makes it easier
4. Shape Shift for Genesis 2 Female
5. Genesis 2 Female(s) Morphs Bundle (optional but recommended)
6. not yet released version of GenX that will allow you to convert V4 characters to G2F
many thanks, that is exactly what I need, a list of what products I need :) many many thanks for that.
do you know if and when the GenX converter for G2F will be out?
and a second question, the "clothe" transfer tool (I have) do it also transfer v4.2 clothes to G2F or just to Genesis?
by the way, I am still using ds4.5 64bit since it came out, do I have to change the software?
You need 4.6 for Genesis 2 based figures, and it is so much better than 4.5 too.
AutoFit will work from V4.2 to Genesis, and from Genesis to Genesis 2 Female. It won't directly convert from V4.2 to Genesis 2 Female, unless you buy the Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female product.
You'll probably need to upgrade to the latest version of DS...I believe some of the products on the list do require DS 4.6.
Regarding GenX, I'm not sure when it's coming, but I've heard it is in the works.

well just have had a look at all products I need and well, it is a bit of money nearly 200$
Also depends on your pc specs.a bit. The higher you get, the more powerful your machine needs to be. That is topped by the new HD release. But my 2 cents would be that if you are going to spend money and your pc is up to it, get the newest addition. You can also purchase different generations and see how it works out with you and than later return the items you don't like within 30 days
...you can still get GenerationX for Genesis 1. As I understand the update for G2F/M is scheduled to roll out in January. and there will be a discounted price for those who already have the plugin.
As Genesis 1 already includes the autofit clone and UV for V.2 I agree it would be the most cost effective and versatile to use.
There are some options to get gens (female) for Genesis without dropping 87$ (PC price) on the Vicky5 Pro Bundle.
Thorne/Sarsa's Satsuki (for the base Genesis)

Thorne's Genesis Body Morph Resource Kit 1

DieTryings 182 morphs for Genesis (free - Available at Share CG)
If you also plan to use long skirts it would be good to have SickleYield's Rigging and Morphing System.

do you know if and when the GenX converter for G2F will be out?
Latest word (as far as I know) from D3D is sometime in January 2014.
My choice is DAZ Studio 4.6 (I'm using the latest Beta without issues) and Genesis (Generation 5, etc).
