What is a Resource Kit?

Yes it is yet another probably silly question from yours truly, but what is a resource kit and what do you do with it? I have gotten several of them for Genesis, Genesis 2, and specific characters because they sounded as though they would be useful down the road when I understand D|S better. I see the one on sale for M6 so thought I would get around to asking what one dose with these kits?

Thanks for being helpful with answers as always! (in advance)

They are usually called Merchant resource kits, and the ones for figures are designed to give you a start in creating your own character skins for a figure. There is usually a stipulation in them that you have to alter then by a given amount, and can't just use them as is for anything you want to distribute.

Also they usually say that they cannot be used for freebies, so do check the readme for usage

I use a lot of merchant resources containing fabric materials for creating my clothing texture sets, that is a different sort of merchant resource.

So, using the current resource kit for M6 on sale right now as an example. It would basically be like a collection of MAT files similar to the MFD template I am working with now for the contest, that would allow me to take it into photoshop and change things like the skin texture, color etc. or paint on eyebrows, hair, beards, or a body marking.

Do I have the concept right?

Yes, with enough custom work, should say in read me how much, you would then have a NEW set you could sell.
