I haven't had this problem before, but then I'm new: there is a lot of noise in my spot-renders and still frame renders. Is this just a matter of not having enough light on the models?
Too few light samples could be part of it. Also maybe lower your shading rate in the renderer's advanced settings.
Are you using Uberenvironment or Uber lights? If so, you don't necessarily need more light sources; maybe just crank up the # of samples on each for starters?
Thanks. More lights seems to help. Any tips on creating embedded lights in a set? Those short pillars on this ramp have rectangular areas that seem meant for lights, but the spot lights I placed inside them fail to make the rectangular openings glow like I thought they would.
