The vapourizer may not always be as precise as the cheapscate would like us to believe, but the C-G has a very competent cleaning-up-the-mess squad to take care of things when needed.

This is not part of the pointless challenge, so...

This, on the other hand, is clearly a space opera, all the ingredients are there...

I think the General will like this one...

Hmm not sure about this, put it here anyway...

    umh..ok...

    Destination inner space...

From the latest episode of "Juicy in the sky with Diamonds"

    Keeping my fingers crossed...Worried emoticon

Uh,oh !  Looks like Sven Dullah's opened the floodgates ! laugh

This thread hereby announces that the moratorium on the cheapskate's stupidity has been extended !

So all you sensible 'artists' still have achance to get your entries in !

The cheapskate is now forbidden from posting anything stupid to this thread until next weekend (Saturday 18th May 2019, 0.01am his time - just to be precise).

Anybody NOT called 3DCheapskate is free to continue posting both sensible and not-sensible art (and not-art) for appreciation (or not-appreciation).

*Phew! That'll give me the CG time to think about how best to 'appreciate' Redfern's, Sven Dullah's and Odaa's new ' appreciation requested' entries.

This picture isn't stupid*, and thus by-passes the prohibition.

There are so many entries that the Criticizer General has 'requested' that they all be displayed together in a shooting art gallery.

    *everything is relative

    A Close Encounter

Uncredited crewmember: "Captain, we have encountered an unidentified entity ahead!"

    Captain: "Mr Pork, report."

Mr. Pork: "It appears to be a fragment of opening crawl, Captain. I believe it is quite common in this part of the Long Ago and Far Away Galaxy."

Captain: "What exactly is the nature of these Krawl creatures?"

Mr. Pork: " The crawl is not a creature, Captain. It is merely receding text."

Captain: " I'm having difficulty making out what it says."

Mr. Pork "Well it is only a fragment, Captain. However, it is my understanding that it always was difficult to read, even in its original form."

    Captain: "Is it a threat?"

Mr. Pork: " There do not appear to be any weapons, nor any evidence of intelligent life as we know it, Captain."

Captain: "Beans, does it represent any medical threat to the crew?"

Beans: "Dagnabbit, Larry, I'm a doctor, not an editor!"

Captain: " You know that I prefer Lawrence, Beans, and I have warned you before about the language. Is it dangerous?"

Beans: " Well, from what I understand, there have been cases of reported compulsive behaviour associated with repeated exposure, including speaking in tongues, wearing outlandish costumes, periodically losing touch with reality, and canonical obsession"

Captain: " Canons? I thought you said this thing was unarmed, Pork!"

Mr Pork: "That is correct. There are no canons. I believe the doctor said "canonical"."

    Captain: "What's an onical?"

Mr. Chekbox: "Shall I fire the phasers, sir?"

    Captain: "Mr. Pork?"

Mr. Pork: "I do not believe that would be wise, Captain. Since the entity is comprised almost entirely of light energy, the phasers could simply make it larger and stronger."

    Captain: "Photon torpedos?"

    Mr. Pork: "Same thing."

Captain: "That might make it easier to read. Your recommendation then?"

Mr. Pork: "Might I suggest we simply leave, Captain?"

Captain: "Boring. Very well. Scooter, full impulse."

Mr Scoot: "I dinna think that the engines can take much more of this, Captain!"

Captain: "You always say that, Scooter. The engines haven't been doing anything. We're stopped. Have you been taking your meds?"

Beans: "I caught him giving them to the dog."

    Captain: "We have a dog?"

    Beans: "Not any more."

    Captain: "OK, then. Engage."

    Mr. Hoohoo: "What?"

Captain: " I just made that up. I considered "Punch it", "Step on it", or "Floor it", but decided on "Engage". Maybe I should just stick with "Go." And can somebody please tell me what an onical is? Wait, thats not one of those weird little fuzzy things is it? I hate them."

Mr. Hoohoo: "Hang onto your hats!"

Captain: "Nobody's wearing hats, Mr. Hoohoo."

Mr Hoohoo: "I know, I just made that up."

    Captain: "Go."

None of these are new renders, so I guess they can't win the nonexistant prize or whatever.
They where still fun to make, and I hope you enjoy them.

The "New Tower of Babel" office building from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", released in 1927.  The male lead's father, Joh Fredersen, basically runs the city from this monolithic structure.

    Entry 3 - Redfern #1:

Bill definitely seems to know what's what in the sci-fi world !

But can he predict how the CG's  'appreciation' of his picture will go...

    ...it wasn't hard to guess...

Credits for the difficult bits (both freebies) to find:

The CGs not keen on this 'Modern Gallery' and will be 'appreciating' that after he's found the remaining 10 entries that were marked for 'appreciation'

This 'Modern Gallery' doesn't seem to have been designed for 'appreciating'.

The original 'appreciation' was just the picture, without the CG or the gallery. I think it lost something ( a certain je ne sais quoi?) when I combined it with the CG and the Modern Gallery.

And no, the CG definitely doesn't like cats. Or dogs. Or elephants. Or porpoises. Or humans. Or ... I think you get the picture

P.S.Talking of links, and just in case anybody isn't aware:

Now, whereabouts in the building is that next entry hiding ?

Edit: I should probably bring the "Thanks to everybody who's joining in..." from the PS to the top of this post - I love them all ! laugh
(JamesJAB - there's no requirement for renders to be new, so your entries have as much chance of winning the non-prizes as anybody elses !

My favourites so far are probably the latest posts from luci45 and Bill because they've gone above and beyond the call ! And I've only just viewed Sven's cleanup crew picture full size after wondering "What's that stickingout of the bin?" - I'd totally missed what's being swept up... surprise

Anyway, I'd actually just popped in to post my own totally serious 'Space Opera' picture...

Edit: almost forgot the most important bit...

...but I see that this thread has split into several divergent realities (or parallel universes, or whatever) with the CG itself actually appearing in two entries, and two characters from an early entry appearing in the gallery where the CG can't find the entry he's looking for... suspicious,eh ?

Anyway, I'm The CG is still playing catch up with the previous entries - at least in one of the divergent realities.
The CG still hasn't found Sven's first entry from page 2.
Personally I don't think anybody told him that the ground (by which of course I mean first*) floor only contains the entries from page 1. The page 2 entries are obviously on the first (by which of course I mean second*) floor.
So Sven's 2nd to 7th entries, Odaa's 2nd entry, Diomede_Carrara's 1st, Sven's 8th, SixDs 1st, (JamesJABs pictures weren't marked for appreciation and will be kept away from the CG), Diomede_Carrara's 2nd, Sven's 9th (!), and luci45's 1st are all on the CGs list, and will each be 'appreciated' in due course...

P.S. Thanks to everybody who's joining in - but especially to those who are adding plot twists that I hadn't seen coming ! Such as...

*an attempt to sow even more confusion by explaining things...

    Entry 4 (and 5) - Sven #2 (and #3):

In the paralleloverse where the CG is still traipsing around the gallery, it's finally worked out that page 2 is on a different floor. And it's found the first entry from page 2...

    Appreciated !

It appears that the CG doesn't like children either.Or trolls.Or slu...

Thinking of its mum, the CG suddenly remembered her advice to always double check the settings on your vapourizer.
    Wrong setting !
    Try using the proper setting...
