Oh my gosh, I was sure I had done it and then I realized I edited the sentence that had them in and forgot to replace it. Thank you!
And that tropical X is now up from 40% to 60% on chance of formation. Here we go.
From Wunderground: "All three of our top models for predicting tropical cyclone formation—the European, GFS, and UKMET models—predicted with their 12Z Sunday runs that a tropical depression or tropical storm would develop in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico by Friday." Edit- what to watch for- two of the models (Including the European, which does really well with this kind of storm) take it further out in the Gulf and it stays a day longer. IF that happens, it goes more to Louisiana, and Florida is safe. (That extra day gives a different front a chance to pull it over west.) Late Thursday/Friday is when to watch how far out it goes in the Gulf.)
I noticed the Beautiful Skin products weren't bundled like the previous ones for Genesis 3. Pooh. If you go to the product page, you'll see we discussed an eyebrow issue back in thread 11. (If you have the Deals add-on, it shows forum and gallery references. A really must-have so you can look up products before you buy them.)
Elegant Kitchen is 72% off. I don't see it in Fast Grab, so?
One of GypsyAngel's IS 66% off, this would be a great time to buy and also support Laura. Shyla (adding a PC+ new item takes it to 72%, I didn't test these others as I don't have time. Store turns over in about 20 minutes)
Also from her: Brahm is on sale (Gen3) 69% off, Sawyer is 79% off! (Gen3)
Thanks! It's just important because folks using the Daz Deal plug-in see links to forum threads, and your wonderful review and examples will show up for them. :)
Oh goodie, now up to 80% likelihood of a tropical storm or tropical depression. As long as it doesn't linger over one place, we could use the rain. But previous models show it going either east, or west, and not straight up.
I am rendering Sandy in an hour or so. (Out walking, temperatures are already climbing. 82 degrees but Real Feel 90 and it's only 8:24am. So walk first, render later LOL)
thanks for the heads up and I'm thrilled to hear that you are enjoying her in G3.
and thanks for sharing your lovely work.
Sandy for Teen Josie 8 Apex Hair (G3F / G8F) Anime Ninja Outfit and Textures
The description for Apex Hair doesn't list the movement morphs or adjusting options, so I checked on the top and sides. There is a lot of options, I didn't see a volume one to increase the entire TOP of the hair- but there's so many morphs that a combination of them will give extra volume.
The Anime Ninja Outfit is fine but the textures are what really get it noticed. I combined a red option (the shirt) with the black option to get the red top and red boots. Here's the thing- if you look in that product at the thumbnail in the Textures product, showing the four outfits (no people in them) you will notice the light tipped boots. So here's the color code to get a good match to the top. Use 164 / 94 / 122 in the Surfaces tab for the Base Color.
So I changed the boot tips and left the rest of the boot alone. I think the boot tips match the top really well, if not perfectly.

Looks good, but you have some poke-through on the left breast.
That will be her right
@plasma_ring: Thanks for showing us Beautiful skin for Iray! I like how you managed to achieve a toon look. Would you say this effect works due to your specific lighting you use?
I'm glad it's helpful! :D
Certain types of lighting really enhance the effect, especially using warm colors. I usually render sprites and portraits in a black or near-black environment like the ones found in Render Studio 2.0 - Volumetric Plus, The Void, or Tenebroso, and dramatic lighting works best in my experience since distinct light, shadow, angles, and planes all contribute to the painterly feel. For the examples in my original post I used Render Studio 2.0 and ElianeCK's Dramatic Lights 1 and 2. It's not a realistic effect, so it doesn't look as desirably unrealistic in very realistic lighting, if that makes sense.
I did a workflow experiment using the default sun-sky settings and it didn't turn out too bad. I think with the right combo of props and composition it would probably work fine--I'm just always rendering Gotham City overcast or at night (sun? I don't know her).
That said, I think messing with it in realistic lighting makes it easier to see why it looks "toony" and not just shiny. As Novica pointed out, the high reflectivity is because it's metallic, but it also tends to have deeper shadows. Lemme pull out my trusty comparison shots again:
Beautiful Skin looks like it has a very, very subtle dark aura that by providence or design helps enhance areas that are often defined by linework in comic-style art, like the jawline and nose. I'm not sure if this is also due to the metal-like properties (I don't know the first thing about shaders except that they look like delicious candy) but it's more of a penciling vs. the inked outline effect of shaders like Sketchy. Edit: I checked settings and it is probably definitely the metallicity!
Caveat: It's more pronounced on some characters than others, and I've tested this on one character where it was either not visible or too faint for me to see (Lyra). After some swapping skins and characters around it seems to have something to do with the skin itself; I'm using the complete presets that keep the original texture and not the Victoria or base G8F settings.
And this is why I lower the default bump--it's very aggressive, to the point where it looks like severe pitting on some characters (it's freckles! But backwards).
Setting up characters with it might be frustrating for people who aren't comfortable tweaking skin settings, but I'm suggesting it for a kind of a niche, off the wall purpose anyway. If you do like playing with skin settings though, it's super fun and interesting!
Oh, I like that character! She’s really cute. Nice render.
DIdn't even look. Thanks! I took a Benadryl due to a bug sting reaction (don't know what the heck it was, but it was sure itching!) and it made me so sleepy I headed off to get some sleep. I'll fix it. Thanks for pointing it out :) @spuffy Do me a favor and take the image out of your quote- aka destroy the poke-through evidence LOL
If you got the purple banner with $5 free (just because) and it also has a $10 free (both the $5 and $10 are DOs) then remember you can use BOTH codes. Get $5 off without having to buy anything, and check out. Then go get a PC+ new release (or any new release) and get $10 off another Daz Original. I got Jayla for a little over $3 using the $10 off. Riku was $2.96 using the $5 off.
I'm going to be offline as this tropical weather garbage is already firing up. Pensacola had a hail/wind warned storm that clipped us, I called the barn and they got all the horses in. We were bringing them in early (11am) as it's 108 heat index by then, but this thing roared down from the north (where Barry is still a low) slightly after 10:30am.
Another lightning storm headed in so going to get the dogs out, unplug the computer, etc.
Thank you for the nudge - had not realised the $5 was without a qualifying purchase, and I had an item lined up but thought, after using th $10 one, you had to purchase a new item .. now off to try and find that sub %4 item ..
Stay safe.
Actually the $10 coupon seems to be multiuse up to a maximum of 3 times.
Hi Novica. Thanks for using Sandy and for the link. It came out well, I bet it would look good with the toon render setting too, I haven't used it lately but it used to give some interesting results, as long as the material zones were colored.
I hope the storm passes by without trouble.
They must have fixed it- not working for me. :( Thanks, thunderstorm!
Done!
@Novica, I just used the coupon three times. Maybe there was a store glitch. If you've not battened down the hatches yet, there may still be time to use the coupon again…
Me too, used the last two an hour before DAZ midnight.
Okay, to clarify, is that 20% purple banner that says "any order" a multiple use one?
I think so. I used it on a gift card, and now I have stuff in my cart that I'm deciding on and the coupon is taking off 20%.
@zombietaggerung STOP don't check out! Have you done that yet?
I know a way for you to get over 70% off. Everyone wait a minute so I can explain. And it's NOT A GLITCH.
I have not, yet. do tell of this 70% off thing?
Okay, here goes- get the gift card for 20% off. Yes, it's multiple use through Friday (ends Daz midnight)
NOW GO TO THE TEEN PROMO. The Featured Artist Items at the bottom of that page are 65% off when you get three of the Teen Jane Releases from the top of the page. Since you've gotten 20% off with the gift card you're going to use, that is 20% off those top of the pageTeen Jane items (and many are 51%) So yes, you need to get 3 (and they go to 61% depending on which ones you choose) but you can really load up on those featured artists- there's a LOT of stores. THOSE GO TO 72% off.

Duplicate post. I hate these forums!!!! Anyway, I'll show you the three from the top of the page which I picked in the next post. When the Pro Bundle first came out, I looked at the shirt and textures I ended up getting, so glad I waited.
