Accidently replaced my data folder

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hello folks...

I've a noobie Daz user whos been using the program for less than a year now. I recently downloaded some 3d model clothing textures online. Instead of simply adding the object's data folder to My Library one, I accidentally replaced the folder entirely. I don't know how much information was in that folder, but now I can't even load a genesis model.

Is there anyway to reverse this mistake?

Thanks in advance.

What operating system are you using? You should just be able to reinstall the packs and they will go where they are suppose to

I'm on OSX. It stating that my Library/People/Genesis/Genesis.dsf file does not exist.

I'm guessing I need to redownload the Genesis essentials pack?

Yes, if you didn't keep it - I always keep a local copy of installers and zips, since I'm on a capped bandwidth service and can't redownload everything at once.

If that's the path it's giving, that's not the data file -- did you previously have DS4.0 installed? You need to change the startup scene in Edit > Preferences > Startup to load Genesis.duf

If you replaced your My Library/data i recommend you either restore it from a a backup (if you have TimeMachine activated) or you reinstall everything that is for DAZ Studio and you won't get anything working anymore.

Trying to recreate that without a backup is not even remotely doable. If you have installed with DIM, you might have the installers still intact as Richard says, and then you don't need to download them again.
But I really recommend to create a new "Runtime root" and install to a new place or deleting everything first or you can very easily end up in a real mess with half broken products.
