DAZ 4.00

i HAVE DAZ 4.5, but...

My elderly computer is no longer able to support it, even though I only produce stills (photos).

I'm not sure, but I think I need an intel core 3 with 6 GB of RAM to do the job on DAZ 4.5.

However, until I can afford a new computer... If I download DAZ 4.0 on my old XP, will it operate for a while? Long enough to make stills until I can replace it?

I'm not sure what you mean? If you have the installers for an earlier version you can keep using it, although newer products won't work with it.

I never had an earlier version. But my computer- which used to help me produce stills with DAZ 4.5, won't do it anymore. Admittedly, it always struggled to do what it did, but it allowed me to render pictures for my projects. Until 4.5 gradually began to malfunction. Then finally stopped working completely.

I heard someone say that they still used DAZ 4.0 because their own system wouldn't handle 4.5. So- until I can afford to get a new system- I was trying to find out if DAZ 4.0 would run on an older XP computer that cannot really handle DAZ 4.5.

Or will it likely not work, either.

I believe I can download 4.0 to my computer.

(I think- I'm not sure- That I will require am intel core 3 processor with 6GB of RAM to work on DAZ 45 properly. I will need to get a desktop on the cheap to get me through to summer, when I can probably upgrade with something new.

Should I download 4.0 until I can replace what I have? Or will it not work any better than what I have?

...which is barely 2 GB Ramm. My laptop is 3 GB RAMM, but it stopped handling DAZ before my ancient desktop did. (Obviously the processors are not spectacular.)

You can only download DS 4 if you have it in your product library, but you say you have never had an earlier version, I am a little confused.

Studio 4.0 will run under XP. (On my box, it runs slowly... which is why I still have Studio 3 installed.) If it's in your Product Library, go for it!

    Chohole and Robkelk,

I was wondering about that. I've never had an earlier version of DAZ 4.5.

if I downloaded 4.0 into my old system, it would run better in XP?

    I could download 4.0.

My system is still only 1.80 GHZ - 1.93 RAM.

I can afford to purchase the 3.4 GHZ with 4GB RAM - 700 GB HD.

It operates on Windows 7, though.

I wonder if that would do a better job? Or if I made the purchase, then replaced W-7 with XP or Vista?

I would only need the new system for DAZ rendering. Wouldn't need to clog it up with other stuff.

    Should I download 4.0 first?

If you previously didn't have DS 4.0 in your order history then there is no way you can download it now. DS 4.6 is the current build. If you had DS 4.5 then that should still be in your order history,

And If a system come loaded with Windoze 7, then stick with it. You certainly don't want to go back to XP, as it is only 32bit, and Vista was not a good version of windoze, as many people will tell you.

Should I go: 32-bit with 3.4 processor, 6 GB RAM?

or: 64-bit with 3.0 processor and 6 GB RAM?

    (both Windows 7)

Would the answer change if each system had only 4 GB RAM?

Should work fine. If the Graphix card can handle DAZ your fine with that.
