V4 vs v6

I've been playing around with daz3d and v6 that I got from a friend and decided that I want to buy at least one victoria bundle. I still have a couple of questions:
1- it seems to me that there's an extreme amount of v4 products available from many different websites (renderosity etc.) and v6 seems to be a lot less. Is it still worth buying the v6 or should I buy the v4 package?
2- can I buy v4 and v6 and run them next to each other or will that give conflicts? Or is there any way that I can do that?
3- if I install v4 and remove v6 will my old characters still work that I created with v6?

Thanks for your time.

To start with, you should remove V6 anyway, as it is not legal to use a character you got from a friend, as per the DAZ 3D EULA. No content from the DAZ 3D store is allowed to be used in this way. You would need to buy your own copy or completely remove the one you have.

V4 and V6 are two completely different things. V4 is a standalone product, It is an older generation of figures.

V6 is a character for Genesis 2 Female, and depends on G2F to work.

Anything that is created on V6 will not work on V4 and vice versa.

Check this thread here to explain the different DAZ 3D figures. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24257/

Some Victoria 4 content (textures and many clothes, via AutoFit, to an extent will work on Genesis (for which Victoria 5 is made). You can also use Victoria 4 textures and clothes in the same way of Genesis 2 female, including Victoria 6, with the Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female product in the store.

Thanks guys, just one more question to be sure:
If I buy http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female I can use the V4 accessories etc. as well, right?

So I can buy v6 and still make use of v4 products w/o buying v4?

Yes--although it depends on the V4 product. With Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female, some things made for V4 will work pretty well on V6 or other Genesis 2 Female characters (some might require some manual tweaking) such as most clothing, poses, and skin textures.* For hair and props/accessories, some will work automatically while others will need to be manually moved in position.

Other things made for Victoria 4, particularly character morphs and expressions, will not work on V6 or other Genesis 2 Female characters, even if you buy the V4 for Genesis 2 Female product.

*Many V4 textures will need to be loaded onto the V4 figure, or the Genesis figure if you don't own V4, and re-saved before you can apply them to Genesis 2 Female. See this thread for details on that.

If you're not sure whether a particular product can be used on Genesis 2 Female (or other figures), feel free to ask about it in the forum.

Textures and clothing, yes. Morphs (shapes) no, and props (items that don't have bones) not directly, though many just need repositioning and there are ways of working around the rest.

I've generally found that both autofit and the smoothing modifier work better with V6 than they do with V5/Gen One. Autofit still seems to struggle with ankle-length gowns, however.
