Can I toggle visibility on / off for a selection of items or a group of parented items?

I noticed that when I turn visibility off by clicking on the eye symbol only the parent items gets hidden in the scene.

All the parented items still have their eye symbol showing.

I tried ALT, CTRL, SHIFT and creating selection in the hopes there is some way to switch visibility on off for a large amount of scene objects quickly.

- Is there a way to toggle visibility on / off for parented items by just clicking on the partent?

added screenshot that may help to illustrate what I want to do.
In this specific example I want to hide a selection of coconut trees that will not be visible in the render because they are standing behind the camera.

I do not want to delete them though because I still may need them for an image from a different angle.

In DS4.5+ we now have a Group function that will do this. Select all the items as you have done in your screenshot then go to the Create menu and create a new Group setting it to Parent selected items. Then all you need to do is click the eye for the Group and they all should get hidden with one click.

My pleasure linvanchene. I use this a lot and so much better than the old way of using a Null. ;)

Thanks. I was wondering this just last night. I have the Forest Superior in my scene and it's so much easier to navigate around the characters in the scene with the forest hidden. Unfortunately, I had to hide every single element of the forest individually. I thought to myself, "There has to be a way to highlight everything and hide it all in one shot."

My free Toggle Visiblity script might also help with this.

It works fine with DS4.6 and the source code is open, so you could tweak it if you want it to work a more specific way.
