This is an art gallery idea I started working on yesterday.
1. I don't have a spotlight prop, so I've just used black cubes for the time being. Anyone know of one?
2. Feedback is welcome.(This is my first image post to these forums, so please be gentle with me.)
3. The photos are my own humble efforts.
Cheers,
Tim.

like it - keep them coming
I used to have software that let you make a art gallery you could walk through .
Nicely done and some very nice lighting. You could combine several primitives to make a spotlight. Perhaps add a long cylinder to make a hanging bracket and another on the front as a lens. You can select and define different faces as surfaces to give more detail and could even play with displacement images.
I now realize the advantage of a gallery: you are actually taking a look at three renders of mine at the same time, LOL...
If you want the spotlight: I didn't create it. I'm not a modeller. I changed the angle a bit, converted it to obj.
and only now in close up I see, I didn't do well in lining up with the bracket. oh well...
Bigh & John: Thanks for the praise.
John: Good ideas about the use of primitives.
Tjeb: I'd love a link to the spotlight object.
Thanks, all.
Tim.
No problem in putting the spotlight on shareCG.
But I'm having a problem with the pivot point I'd like to solve first.
Like I said, I'm not a modeller, I only know some basic skills.
If I set the light's pivot point correct in Blender, (first gif) after importing in DAZ the pivot point is then moved slightly to the bottom of the light.
When I do that in Hexagon, export to obj, import in DAZ, same thing.
I really don't understand what I am doing wrong here.
This may be the dumbest thing I have ever said but .....couldn't you stick a rod all the way through it so it has to pivot on that...like make the bolt run all the way through....just an idea.....I really like your art gallery idea!!! Trish
I have to agree, artists do like showcasing their art.
Trish:
I had already tried that.
The problem lies in understanding the orientation when exporting a model.
In other 3D software 'Y' is not necessarily 'up'. But you can usually choose what you consider as 'up'.
Here is where I go completely lost.
FirstBastion:
Thanks for creating the gallery. Hope you don't mind me changing the floor for the one of mcasual.
tjeb: yes I can see why ...I have never used blender to model...have you tried to set X as forward instead of z?? I model stuff with Bryce but I haven't tried putting it into Studio ...did you take it over the bridge or export as a wavefront object? Interesting problem to say the least...I just tried a simple model in Bryce over the bridge to Daz and both programs locked up had to call up task manager to shut down.....my simple guess would be how daz reads files is off. sorry maybe you can ask in nuts and bolts....I don't see why you would need forward just up and down would be enough
Tim if that is your artwork on the walls I would like to see a closer up view of it
I actually really like your color choices, the contrasts make the artwork pop.
