Question about Posing
I have looked around in several forums, and haven't found an answer for this question about poses.
Is it possibly to blend or mix 2 or more different poses onto the same model at the same time?
For example, Say I have a model pose of Michael 4 running, and another of Michael 4 standing in an archer's pose shooting a bow. Without manually adjusting things, is it possible to have Michael running (below the waist from one pose) while shooting the bow (waist up for drawing bowstring and aiming, etc)?
It would be nice to be able to select several body parts and apply one particular pose to them, then select the rest of the body parts and apply a different pose to them without losing the previous positions.
I have noticed that when I have a model holding a sword, then adjust the pose for the figure, the sword grasping hand often comes unglued a bit, and I have to reapply the hand position pose. I got to thinking this feature might be useful (if it doesn't already exist) for other body parts.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
David

Yes it's possible. Using Animate2 one can add subtracks for additional pose actions.
If the pose preset is in DS format, you can hold down the Ctrl key (CMD on Mac) and select which bones to apply the pose to.
Yes that can be done but know this it takes some work. The work needed is in the Second pose file used. I do have away to cut poses into different parts. Then you would have to files. One for the Top body and one for the lower body. But Loading one and then applying ONLY part of a second one is doable also.
Let me know which method you prefer and I shall explain it. TIP: Multi parts is something I do to MANY pose sets so I can mix them.
I think Loading one then applying part of a second one would be what I would do most often. If you could explain that one, I will give it a try.
But..on second thought..building a library of partial poses could be useful too. Maybe if you get time, you could post something on both.
Thanks, Jaderail!

Jaderail...have you had a chance to give this topic any thought?
I am still interested in combining 2 poses onto one figure.
Thanks!

Opps, Got Sidetracked. I'll write this up for you tonight.
I have not forgotten this, the Tutorial is still a WIP. It is just taking a bit more time than I had planned.
That's quite alright. I'm in no hurry.
Thanks for taking the time to write it up!

"It is time to look for Jaderail's helpful tutorial yet?"
I am very sad to have to let you know Jaderail has passed away :( He passed a couple weeks back unexpectedly :( I'll see if I can dig up a tutorial on this for you...
If the poses are in DS format, you can hold down the Ctrl key (COMMAND on Mac) while double-clicking, and in the dialog box select which nodes to apply the pose to. Save each pose as a new pose preset which only affects the body parts you want, and then you can apply them both without one resetting the other.
Thanks Mike! :)
Two screen caps to start you out.
(edit, clicked the wrong button, oops)
And an expansion view of some parts. The pose preset can be made to save, a single thing, or groups of stuff, or everything (including where the figure is in a scene).
The "unselect all", and the "select only" options in the former post screen-cap can be very helpful for making itemized poses that don't efect other parameters(unchecked ones), like location of the figure or scaling of body parts (you must tell it not to save them).
I am stunned to learn of Jaderail's passing.
He was always very helpful to me when I had a question, and from what I saw was helpful to the whole community.
A sad day.

(p.s. thanks to all who replied to this thread. I will get back to it another time. My mind is on something else atm.)
