I've just bought an old style poser format object, which comes with a 'runtime' folder, and the usual bunch of folder stuff and files underneath.
Where do I plop in in my daz folders, and how do I persuade daz to pick up the contents?
Cheers,
Nick

unzip it to your my library folder
Thanks for such a quick response.
I found the folder, (and there were matching sub folders, so I think it's the right one).
I copied them in, and searched using the content library, (I also tried the 'refresh' option in the hope it would rescan), but nothing is coming up. I also stopped and started Daz...
I've got to be doing something silly - any ideas?
Nick
You can try re-importing your metadata
Your Runtime folder needs to be directly under your My Library folder (or whatever name you use), make sure that it is not nested (a runtime inside a runtime folder)
Once it is in that folder, go to the Content Library pane, My Library > Poser Formats to see the contents, they will not appear in DAZ Studio Formats.
EDIT:
XPost Frank.
Here's a quick rundown of the runtime structure, and daz file structure, i did a while back.
It may help you understand how it's supposed to go, and what goes where.
any questions just post here and i'll try to clarify.

Poser format files installed to the DAZ Studio Runtime folder inside the default content folder, My Library or My DAZ 3D Library or one you created, can only be accessed from the Content Library Tab in the Poser Format section, then you look for the files in the folders you put in the same Runtime folders. ie Props, Figures, Poses to name a few. The only time Poser items will have Metadata is if they came from DAZ3D or the artist that sold, or created the free item, made the metadata files for the item. Then they will show in Smart content once the Metadata is read. If the content is installed properly.
Any item that comes in a Runtime folder and its default sub folders must go into the DS Runtime folder and its sub folders just as listed. If this is not done properly the item will fail to work properly in DAZ Studio.
Thanks for the help all.
It's got a bot weirder. I decided to locate some objects in Daz, then use info to work out where they were, as I was confused. They seem to be in a whole bunch of locations...
I copied the new folders into several, but search under content library did not find the new object. I did a bit of browsing there though, and managed to find it! It's a bass guitar from Renderosity, and the item, when I browse for it, shows up with "precision bass" as the description under the small picture. Yet a search for bass was not finding it...
Maybe I was doing something dumb, as the search now seems to find it, though I could have sworn it was not finding it before, and I tried several times...
Anyhow, it's working now which is the main thing, thanks to all for the help and I'll definitely take a look at that document on folders and files.
Cheers,
Nick
