customized imported mesh
Hi. I'm somewhat new of using daz3d, so I would like to know: what is the pipeline to create a poseable avatar from an imported (fbx or obj either) model made into an external modeler (such as Lightwave, which I use)? I've found nothing in the manual about this: also very few infos around, even here. Thanks.

You would use the Figure Set up tools in DAZ to rig the figure. If I had links on it I would post them for you. I hope another pop's in with more info for you.
Hi Jade. But... it is wouldn't been better if such abilities where already embeded in daz3d since long time, instead of having such an important feature coded by third parties (with all eventual problems it may involve also as for stability issues?)?
The rigging is IN DAZ Studio. Built in. It allows you to Import any MESH from any application, Hex, Blender, Max or whatever and then RIG the figure to pose or animate. Even props like Doors and Cars and other things can be Rigged in DAZ Studio.
Ok. How?
And, if it is built-in, why you did mentioned that figure setup tools?
you can use transfer utility and Genesis, and conform it like clothing bit iffy though depending on how different to Genesis it is shaped
Ok (it's a normal biped). But, no detailed tutorial or informations/guidelines about?

Ok. Thanks.
It is anyway weird that there is nothing about this in the manual.
And... now that I see the workflow indeep, it looks somewhat machinous.
The Figure set up tools are a group of tools built into Daz Studio. The Link I mentioned would have been to a tutorial on how to use them. But I see that you now have one. I believe the Figure set up tools are explained a bit in the Documentation Center. which can be found at this link, please know that the information is still not finished in all sections.

Hi. I didn't know that it was built-in (besides, also 'cause I never stumbled upon it in daz3d); infacts, I believed it was an external/3d party addon/module, due I found it in the daz store (and even an "advanced figure setup tool"!). Anyway, yes, I found a link, but I removed after a while, 'cause I wasn't yet aware of what you stated later in your previous post. Now I see that it is kinda bundle of tools (http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/pub/software/figuresetuptools/start). But, it still doesn't explain how to start good; I tried with importing a fbx in daz, following some steps, but failed.
Daz studio fbx import pretty much sucks sorry (export good)
collada .dae might work, I have gotten makehuman in rigged that way and stuff I made in Carrara, but the rigging does not stick after saving.
obj import and rerigging your best bet.
I myself only use Daz studio as a tool, Carrara 8.5 and iClone5 with 3dx5 my main programs both do fully rigged animated FBX import but are not cheap.
Studio is what it is and you can rig in it and its free you just need to do some work.
Ok... it is very sad, but I'll survive to it... TY.
