Problems with Genisis 8 Skin

I recently got the problem, that when I try to render skin of Genisis 8 figures like from Catalea or Lexy the skin stay grainy while cloth and hair are not. I really don't changed anything, using the same light as before. I get soo awesome skin renders before but know it's mostly grainy. I already deinstalled daz3d studio and all content and reinstalled everything, which does not really help.

And it's the same skins that have gone from grainy to not? Are you sure you haven't made any changes in Render Settings?

  • Yes! Exactly the same skin and I didn't change anything on my render settings. Allworked before I used the Classic Long hair, but I do not think that can be a reason.

It could be slowing the render down in itself, or even tipping it from fitting onto the GPU to having to use the CPU instead (so that you see a less finished render when you check, or it even times out).

  • I've found that hair like this just slows everything down for me, even in the viewport, because of the number of strands. The only thing you can do is just give it more time to render by changing the render time settings in the Progressive Render options. I try to avoid using hair like that for now until I get a better system & Nvidia graphics card.

  • Good tip! I uninstalled the Classic hair completely. Now after it rendered the whole night it's finally normal skin again!

    Hello,

this is an old topic, however, I'm facing myself issues with G8 skin when using Iray. I figured out that some hair products are causing extreme noise that affects the skin textures as well. There is only one hair product for G8 female (that I own) that I was able to turn the noise down by turning the top coat weight value to 0 in the hair surfaces tab. For this hair there was a noisy b/w image used as Top Coat that has caused render issues (see attachment). When turning the Top Coat value to 0, the noise vanished right away.

But I'm not able to find the same thing in another hair product for G3 male and female. Under runtime/textures for this G3 hair there is one such animated noisy gif file, however in DAZ studio under hair settings in the surfaces tab this image cannot be found. I cannot tell why are such images used at all for the hair surfaces and haven't found any tutorials or product Read Me's that'd explain or provide instructions how to use such products. Using Uberbase Shader is not helping at all.

Using denoiser or noise filter doesn't help me since I don't have Nvidia GC. It is also difficult to remove that noise in Affinity Photo or Photoshop/Gimp.

P.S. forgot to mention that when rendering double sized doesn't remove or reduce noise at all.
