Change axes

Sometimes I have a need to change the axes of the grid. For instance if I want to put a figure in a chair that doesn't stand straight along the x or z axes. Now I have to zigzag the figure to get to the chair. I guess there is smoother way (like temporarily rotate the grid). Or not?

Move the Figure to the chair then just ROTATE the figure. All items can be moved and Rotated with many of the Tools or in the Parameters Tab. I hope this helps some.

hey jade you missunderstood the question i think
getting an object from one Point to another that is not on one of the 90 degree axes
you cannot move it directly to that Point with the Parameters tab
but you can if you take the translation tool and grab it at the little triangles

Well, yes you need to use one of the Translation tools or just Copy the X Y Z parameters from the far object to the to be moved object, but that's the reason the tools are there and the Parameters take values. For the movement of items to where the user wants them. The Align tool is also very useful once you understand the different settings.

I thought that was what this was about. Otherwise I'm sort of lost right now. I sort of see USE a Tool in my post.

    Hello,

use the "free" manipulator that will move objects free within the two axis it represents.

And that my Friends is the SECOND tool on the TOOL bar if you have it ON in your DAZ Studio Viewport layout.

It's actually the 4th. The 2nd one creates the translation handles and the rotation circles, which can get annoying.

sometimes the object 0/0/0 is different from the world 0/0/0
then copying the Parameters doesnt work
how do you solve this ?

That is Covered here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/30747/#455924 It will take some work to get it set to perfect center I believe. Then 000 will equal world 000 when set to it.

One option might be to create a new null (from the Create menu), then use the Align (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Align)pane to place that as you want in relation to the prop or figure you wish to place, parent the item to the null and then use the null for positioning.

Thx everyone for your efforts. You have been most helpful.
I had totally missed the little yellow triangle which allows you to move the figure freely in xz-plane.
    Great!
