That looks like it would be a UV map/seam issue - check that the UV map set for hips and legs are set to the same, correct, setting for the skin texture in use.
What is your Shading Rate, in the Advanced tab of Render Settings? If you select the legs or hip with the Surface Selection Tool, what shader is listed at the very top of the Surfaces pane, above the list of surfaces?
@Richard
My shading rate is 2.00
Shader is "default"
@Simon
I an still a newbie. Where/How do I find the UV maps and the setting for the skin texture?
(I do believe I have used GabiV5, if that has anything to do with it.)
The gaps only occur when I use 3Delight software render. Not in OpenGL (with or without shadows)
(I can't use OpenGL SL at all. Makes Daz Studio crash, but that is another issue).
What does the Shading Rate actually do? Noticed that is distance dependant. The further away the lower I have to set Shading Rate.
If I am close to the figure I can use a significantly higher setting.

Try dropping Shading Rate - to 1, then to .5, then to .2 - until the seams (hopefully) go away.
@Richard
Thx, that did it.

Shading Rate is explained at the top of this page http://www.k-3d.org/wiki/RenderMan_Controls
@Richard
