starting point of an item

I have a few building. When I load one to use in a scene. They will load to close to a door or a wall. Is it possible to change it so they load somewhere in side of the building or not so close to the wall or door.

    Hold down the Ctrl key when you have the item that you are loading selected, and keep the LMB down.

    You will see a target symbol in the viewport, hold the LMB (Left Mouse Button) until the item is where you want it, then release.

    It's alt, not ctrl. Opt on the Mac.
