Creating a cube in DS

I want to create a cube.
Each face will have symbols carved into it.
All surfaces will be mirror finish.

I know that it is trivial to create a cube in DS.
I am pretty sure that I know how to make it mirror finished.
I am getting a feeling for how displacement maps work in general, and I think I can do the carving of symbols with such a map.

My questions are:

1. Can I apply a square displacement map to individual faces of the solid cube in DS, or do I need to create an "unfolded" map?
2. Is this something that would be easier or better if done in Hexagon?

Thanks.

The cube uses a single map wrapped around the six faces - if you want to have a separate map for each face then you need to assign new material zones, one per face, and give them a planar projection along the axis that runs through them (and then reverse one of them, probably). That would be a job for Hexagon.

Thanks Richard. I will purchase Hexagon and give it a try. I don't mind making the unfolded jpg for the displacement map, but Hexagon will come in handy so I might as well buy it.
