Creating models for virtual fitting room
Hello everyone!
I'm pretty new to Daz, but I was hoping to get some tips on a virtual fitting room concept.
Basically, I need to make a library of male and female avatars of varying heights and waists in order to drape clothing on them in a 3D cloth modeling program like Marvelous Designer.
(1) This is a basic question, but is there a way to auto generate and export a library of .obj's of Genesis men and women with heights and waists differing by 1 inch?
For example, for men I would need an avatar to be 5'1", with a 28 in. waist, 5'2" with a 28in. waist, 5'1" with a 29 in. waist, etc. until all combinations are done for men between 5'1" - 6'8" and waists 28 - 44 in.
Is it possible to do this with Daz?
(2) Second, I need the models to be small in file size--ideally under 2 megabytes or even under 1 megabyte. For this virtual fitting room example, we will be doing jeans, so structural integrity passed the hips is not essential.
I have looked into purchasing "Decimator" but would rather avoid the 100 bucks if at all possible. So, how low can the file sizes get, and what's the best way to do it?
(3) Third, I was planning on presenting the models as .obj's in an online 3D viewer, but should I consider a different file type? Any thoughts of maybe a better file type in correspondence with Marvelous Designer would be awesome! I'm not all that familiar with collada files so any advice would be outstanding.
Thanks a ton!

Neither DS nor Poser has a way to set waist size or height to a set value, though it's fairly easy to work around that for height (just measure the base height and scale - there are already charts for the most popular figures). Your biggest issue is going to be the license, if the 3D data is to be sent to users' systems (as opposed to being used to generate 2D images, or used on-site by you/your company) - you would need to discuss that with DAZ as it isn't really covered by the Game Developer's License either.
