Hello,
I'm new to the world of 3D my goal is to create a RPG, the programming part is the easy part for me, but getting familiar with DAZ Studio seems to be more difficult than I thought.
A friend of me gave me a couple of characters so I can get familiar with Daz, but I can't seem to install it right.
There's a folder called Content which contains 3 sub folders: data, Runtime and People.
What I did is merge it in the My Library, but when I start DAZ Studio I just see Genesis...so I guess I'm doing something wrong but what?
What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

Please note that any content that your friend gave you may not be legal, as all DAZ 3D (and most other stores as well) do not allow redistribution of any content purchased from the store.
If the characters you have do not fall under the "legal for redistribution" category then you should remove then from your system and obtain them legally from the original source, which in the case of V4 is DAZ 3D.
Don't worry I'll buy the characters anyway given that I can work with them. Have seen lots of content on the site with reasonable prices that I'll surely buy. But if I can't even get this to work there's no reason for me to use daz3d anyway.
Genesis is the default figure that comes with DS. If you want to use any other figure apart from Genesis then you would need to purchase the base figure, and in the case of V4 the Morphs++ are recommended as well.
The cheapest way to do that is to buy the starter bundle http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-complete
But you will at the very least need V4.2 base http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-base Characters are morph packs for the base figures. usually with textures included.
You could of course start your experiments with Genesis, which is included and is very versatile as it can be male, female, child or monster even, depending on which morphs are added to it.
Thanks chohole - I think that's sort of cleared something up for me... maybe... perhaps. I've never quite got the popularity of or need for V4, when the digital world seems to be moving on with V5, V6 and Genesis. To my way of thinking, surely V4 or 4.2 don't work as well as the latest versions? But anyway, I decided that I should probably invest in V4 anyway, as she seems to be such a popular character, so I recently bought V4 for Genesis 2, but low and behold, when I eventually find her in my content library (it takes forever), and I try to apply her to Genesis 2, nothing happens! I don't think I'm particularly dopey, but when trying to dabble in this world of 3d I do sometimes start to wonder. Can you or someone else sort of explain how all this works, because every time I think I'm getting it, something like this happens to knock my confidence. Thanks in advance.
I can't, as I actually don't use DS, so don't use Genesis, but Totte is trying to help you in your other thread.
Cheers again. Unfortunately this is going to confirm my dopeyness, but I can't even find the other thread that I started. Could you perhaps (doffs cap humbly) give me a link to it? (going away feeling very embarrassed)
Little tip, if you lose a thread, click on Profile beneath your screen name on the left, and then view all posts by this member.
Other thread is here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/30800/
So may I ask what you do use?
I did somehow think that my Signature image would have given that away. :coolsmirk:
I do use an older version of Poser as well, to prepare figures and stuff ready for import into Bryce, and I am also just starting to learn Carrara, but I admit I am not getting very far with it at the moment. I have been using Bryce for about 15 years or so, and Poser almost as long, about 13 years I think.
