Victoria4 load broken in 4.6

kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,027

...Needed to create a character using V4 in 4.6, however when I load the figure I get a whole slew of error messages concerning missing channels and none of the morph channels appear in eh parameters tab when I manually load them.

I re-ran the V4.2 Update, still nothing. I then manually uninstalled the base V4 files then reinstalled using the DIM and still nothing.

Icvan get the various character shape morphs (Aiko4, Creature, Steph 4) but none of the FBMs like (Young, Thin, Bulk, etc) or PBMs (Legs Length, Arms Thickness, etc).

I did not install any of the power loaders as they really aren't necessary (and I don't need to have all the V4 shapes loaded every time as that just bloats the mesh).

The odd thing, she loads fine in 3.1A with no errors and all the morphs channels appear after I manually load the different morph sets.

So what gives?

Is this the Poser-format CR2 or a saved scene file?

...CR2 as I'm loading a fresh base figure.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the Morphs++ and still no go.

When I click on the "Locate" button it takes me to Studio3/Content/Runtime/libraries/character/Daz People which only has one folder, "Aiko5". However the files installed in the Studio3/content/runtime/libraries/!Daz/Daz Victoria 4/Body folder. So it appears 4.6 is looking in the wrong place and I'm not sure how to point it to the right one.

I have the entire Daz3 poser runtime mapped to 4.6 so it should be able to find the correct path.

The other screwy thing is the power loader seems to be kicking in, however as I mentioned I never installed that, and wonder if that is what may be causing the error.

As I could not find an uninstaller for the power loader, I went to the folder where it was located and manually deleted it as well as the script, however it still pops up when I load the figure (?).

It sounds like you have V4 installed in more than one Runtime.

...she's only in the main Poser one. There are some files (materials/pose/shader preset) that install to the base Daz Content (Library) folder but that should not be causing the conflict as it doesn't in 3.1A When I reinstalled Victoria4.2 base and the Morphs++ with the DIM I only specified the D:/Daz3D/Studio3/Content folder.

The Morphs++ are not installed properly the Correct path is any DS content Folder>

    Runtime/Libaries/Pose/DAZ's Victoria 4/Morph Injections/Morphs++

My V4 loads and works properly.

If you right-click on the icon you use to load it and choose "Browse to File Location", does it lead to the correct location?

...[drive]/Daz3D/Sutio3/Content/runtime/libraries/!DAZ/[...] is the default install path which is coded in both .exe installer and the DIM and is where they are listed in the "Installed Files" window, so the files are installing to the correct path. The morphs are manually accessed from the Daz3D/Sutio3/Content/runtime/libraries/Pose/Daz People folder..

If 3.1A can find the correct location and load V4 without any path errors, then 4.6 should do so as well. Since the Daz3D/Studio3/content/runtime folder is already mapped in 4.6, there should be be no reason why it is looking in Daz3D/Sutio3/Content/runtime/libraries/Daz People folder instead.

Can you post your Content Directory Manager listings for Poser format for both DS3 and DS4 (Edit > Preferences > Directories in DS3, Edit > Preferences > Content Library in DS4)?

...doing so indicates the base figure is in Daz3D/Sutio3/Content/runtime/libraries/Daz People folder which is where the installer sent it. SO why would it first make a call to install a .pz2 located in the [drive]/Daz3D/Studio3/Content/Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/Victoria4/Body folder and then one to [drive]/Daz3D/Studio3/Content/Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/Victoria4/Deltas/Base folder?

Odd also in that the V4.2 .cr2 shows up in the list with a PSP icon as a .cr2 is not picture file.

I have no idea how these installers are coded internally to do what they do. I just make sure the content is directed to the right location. If it shows as going to the Poser runtime I have either the DIM or Bit rock installer send it to [drive]/Daz3D/Studio3/Content/. If it indicates the Studio 4 Library, I send it to [drive]/Daz3D/Studio/Library/ like I always have done.

There is also a script beneath the .cr2: "Victoria 4.3.dsb" that when I double click on it mentions something about having to load with an ExP enabled "Victoria 4". I have absolutely no idea what that means.

...trying another tactic when I noticed that at the top of the dialogue which is open when the path error appears it has the statement: "Importing Power Loader .pz2.

The error itself reads " Cannot find a file for "content/runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Victoria 4/Deltas.JCMChestBendFront.px2" even though that file is contained in that folder.

If I don't even have the power loader installed how is it even running? I just want to load the base V4 and whatever morph sets I intend to use.

I suspect the problem is having D:/DAZ 3D/Studio3 listed under DS-format content folders in DS4.6 -- that since the Runtime folder is not directly inside that folder, it's seeing it as DS-format and getting confused.

The Victoria 4.2.dsb sidecar file alongside Victoria 4.2.cr2 is the Powerloader. If you don't want it, that's the file you need to remove.

The EXP Script is the File that ADDS all the extra morph channels to the CR2 file so you can Inject the extra morphs beyond the base included morphs. If the EXP file has never been run you can not inject morphs that the Base figure does not have built into it.

BIG EDIT: Here is my V4 done with a DIM only install to a DIM DS Folder. I see no reason to BREAK the content into DS folders and Poser Runtimes. I Point my Poser 9 to the RUNTIME in the My DAZ 3D Library and it loads just fine. As You see all my morphs load in DS.
