Rather lost at going from Daz 3 to Daz 4

I have just installed Daz 4.6; I've been using Daz 3, and want to upgrade to the Genesis figure. I also want to keep using my old content; how do I make it accessible to Daz4. I am hopelessly confused!

Also, can any Genesis materials be used on V4?

Genesis materials can not be used on V4, but V4 materials can be used on Genesis.
To use your DS3 content folder in DS4.6 just Map it in the Paths as it is in DS3.

Just list your DS3 content folder in DS4.6 in exactly the same way that you did in DS3.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and add your DS3 content folder as BOTH a DAZ Studio and Poser Formats folder.

I am not sure exactly what you mean here. If you mean clothing, no, nothing is ever usually backwardly compatible in that way. V4 clothing and skin materials can be used on Genesis though, through the Autofit plugin which is part of DS4.6.

I'm even more confused now. When I do to Edit, then preferences, it gives me a small bar that gives me options for "Startup Scene," "Replace Items of the same type when loading," and "Character loading options" Am I totally messed up?

Content Library then the Content Directory Manager button.. You will then see the same thing as you did in DS3.
