Problem With Actual Hair

MingTMingT Posts: 0

When I open acutal hair on a genesis figure the bottom layer has a long strand that runs from the hair to the floor as depicted in the attached files. The strand doesn't show in a render but does in an export. The only way I can get rid of it is to zero the opacity on the bottom layer which destroys the look of the hair. Does anyone have a suggestion of correcting the problem?

If you look at the Parameters pane with the hair selected is there a Mesh Resolution group? If there is, go to that and set the SubDivision Algorithm to CatmullClark(Legacy) and see if the spike goes away.

Note that Subdivision Algorithm is a hidden parameter, to see it you need to go up to the Parameter Tab Options button and select Show Hidden Properties. (I've been looking for this all over Parameters and Surfaces for a couple of weeks, it just occurred to me it might be hidden.)

Thank you Richard and SpottedKitty for the quick repy.
You gave me the answer to my question and by changing the Mesh Resolution I can now export actual hair without a problem.
    Thank you

Hello, I am having this same spikey hair strand problem in precisely the same way as the OP's pictures indicate.

Sure, it's a nuisance that can be corrected by adjusting the mesh resolution (whatever that means, lol), but is there any way we can log this for correction either from DAZ or the PA vendor? I would rather not make any internal changes when the "right thing to do" is for those who own it to fix the so-called source code.

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: I figured it out after all, but still; that hair-spike through her body has GOT to be painful!
