Question about render engines for Daz Studio 4.6 PRO

Hello!! Let me start off by saying, that when It comes to rendering, I like balancing between awsome quality and render speed...But extra quality catches my attention lol Im thinking of getting Reality 2.5, due to a few great renders Ive seen around from it. Ive already seen what can be done with Reality, so my question is: When it comes to render speed (considering the realism i want), which is faster to get the job done, 3Delight or Reality? I read about Reality being "faster", is it true? I dont mind getting used to anything different, but in my case, time is valuable, when it comes to the actual rendering atleast. Thanks alot in advance.

Reality is not a render engine, it is a plugin for DAZ Studio, and it uses Luxrender, an open source render engine.

Luxrender is an unbiased render engine, and it never stops rendering, you have to stop it yourself when you have the desired result. It can take many times longer to render than 3Delight, but is often a more accurate render in many ways. I have never heard anyone who uses Luxrender saying that it is faster than 3Delight, it is a completely different concept.

First, Reality isn't the render engine - it's one of two plugins for DAZ Studio that will pass scenes to Lux Render.

Now, Lux Render is an unbiased render and 3Delight isn't - Lux is simulating the way real light works, more or less, but that doesn't of course guarantee good results any more than pointing a camera and clicking the shutter does. Lux Render doesn't have an endpoint - it keeps rendering, adding more photons, until you stop it, while 3Delight does stop once each pixel has been rendered so speed is hard to compare - in my experience I think Lux has been slower than 3Delight, but that's going to be critically dependent on your quality settings in 3Delight, and how many ray-traced shadow casting lights or occlusion lights you have combined with how many transparency mapped surfaces, while the speed of Lux Render is going to depend on the point at which you are willing to declare it done. Lux render does have one big advantage in that you can stop a render and then resume it, while there's not way to pause 3Delight.

Thank both of you VERY much xD And I guess I explianed myself a bit too carelessly lol I understand Reality isnt the render engine in itself, I meant between Lux and 3Delight. And I also understand that Luz is not faster than 3Delight, I was asking more about how much there render speed's differed (If that makes any sense? lol), since the site that has Reality for sale says its "faster", but Im guessing they meant compared to past releases?....But you guys still answered my questions very very well, so thank you! From what you guys told me, I think it might be worth the money for me xD Thank you again!
