Where is the Genesis Male figure?

A while ago I downloaded and installed DAZ3D Studio 4.6. It seems to work fine but I have got a question.

Where is the Genesis Male figure? I can see the Genesis Female character but not her male companion!

Should not this male Genesis character have been installed when the DAZ3D Studio 4.6 was installed?

Does the Genesis Male character go under another name than Genesis Male Actor?

I find this very strange and confusing, Please help!

When you instlalled DS 4.6 you should also have installed 2 sets of starter essentials. The original Genesis Starter Essentials give the you Gensis, which is a base figure which can be morpehed into male, female, child or even creatures. The 2nd set of starter essentials is G2F, which is a base female figure. Eventually there will be a G2M figure, but it has not been relelased yet.

The Original Gensis figure can be morphed by using the base morphas, or you can buy further characters for it, and there is an M5 character available.

    Hi Chocole!

Thanks for your answer. I am pretty new to DAZ, do you think I got a behavior if I may ask how I morph this female character into a male one?

I also wonder if the female character will disappear forever if I transform it into a male?

If I save the male where does it end up? Does this male popup like a default character just as the Genesis Female do?

Ramworks at ShareCG has a free set of morphs expressly for creating Genesis2 male characters. It's free, and you may as well learn about downloading new content :).

Your default female character will be there forever. If you save your new morphed male as a character or shape file it will too. You will have to select it to use it, or apply the shape file to a new default female, if you wish.

Great information thanks a lot Standfast!

If I may ask, do you or someone else possibly know where to put this folder in DAZ3D? Lately I have managed all downloads and installs through the Install Manager in DAZ3D but now I am unsure of where to put Ramworks morphs?

Got the same question for more material I downloaded at Share CG for DAZ3D!

The base Genesis (Genesis 1) is neither male nor female. It should show in your DAZ studio as a grey unisex looking figure and there should be presets to change it into a man or a woman. If the figure is female right from the start, then that is probably Genesis 2 Female (the newer Genesis).

my path for manual is c/users/owner/my documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/my library Most manual downloads will go to My Library or to folders within.

    I'm on Win7.

For some reason that was my path when I installed a year ago. That was on an XP machine that got hit by lightning, they salvaged my HD and transferred it to this new Win7 machine. The installer sends things to a totally different place now. At times I have to go find them.

I may not be the best one to direct you. It seems the install default path has changed.

Proxima Shining! I have never seen a grey unisex character in my version of DAZ3S so it´s definitely Genesis 2!

Standfast! I did put the folders from Ramworks in the folder you suggested and wonder why all these shape files dsf can´t be imported into DAZ3D? I just can´t see them in the Genesis 2 Shape preset window!

There are Ramworks morph sets for both Gen2 and Genesis. Make sure of which version you got.

They will not appear as pose presets, they will show in editor. Select the figure, select Editor, on the panel expand Actor, and they will be in a dropdown called Ramworks.

Also you are dealing with "smart" content. If it is preloading a Gen2 figure, all you will see is products applicable to Gen2. You can disable this to either not load any figure.. or choose.

Either way, you can find both versions on the right Content tab, DAZ-my library- people-

This is the preload char option pane. I preload Genesis as I prefer at this time to work with that.

    Wow! Thanks!

I am gonna try this in a minute but first a question about the grey uni sex looking figure that Proxima shining mentioned! Where can that be found? It wasn´t included in the DAZ3D 4.6 Studio version!

Did you install Genesis Starter Essentials, as well as Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials.

    Oh yeah!

I installed them both but now I see that even the poser versions are installed... maybe a bad move since I don´t use Poser even if I have an old copy of it here somewhere in my backup!

Do I really need Poser when I use DAZ3D Studio 4.6?

Does Poser really have any advantages on my workflow, I only use DAZ3D to get access to a great exporter to Lightwave 11.6 and hopefully will learn how to export character animations and mocap figures from DAZ3D.

I have an old version of aniMate I bought a couple of years ago but been informed that this version isn´t possible to update since aniMate2 are a totally different product. I already have a good animation software with a much faster render engine than the one

How good is aniMAte2 and what can it do to help?
