Yeah, I used to have you on my check-in-sometimes list (my husband was a far more dedicated fan and used to let me know when it'd updated). Was a bit startling to see you pop up here -- I'd half-forgotten the comic. You've gotten me some serious street cred with the husband though ("See? It's not just a total money and time drain! The Ghastly guy is ON THE FORUMS!"
Our definition of street cred needs some, uh, work.)

Woohoo! I'm being useful!
Hi! I have MS5EX. Love playing with it. Just started learning how to use it. Will need more time with it though.
Hey WitchStorm,
Can you provide some more details on your experience with MS5. I know a lot can be done just with photoshop, but I am curious about MS5. Do you use a tablet and pen tool? Do you need to have one with MS5 or can you do a lot with just a mouse?
Thanks.
I don't have MS5 but MS4. In version 4, a pen and tablet are not required so I don't see any reason for version 5 to require it. Manga Studio is a drawing tool and as such, a pen and tablet increases speed and control significantly. I use Manga Studio a lot for digital painting. It would take forever if I was using a mouse for brush strokes.
On the other hand, if you're rendering with Daz Studio and importing your JPG or PNG into Manga Studio to set up a page layout, and to add text and word balloons, then using a mouse is enough to get the job done. There's no reason to buy a pen and tablet.
They have a trial version of MS5 free for 30 days. Save and Print have been disabled in the trail version. http://manga.smithmicro.com/trial.html
Thanks for the info. I actually am waiting for my copy of MS5 to arrive already. I am definitely more on the side of working in DAZ and then building out the pages in MS5 so at this point I don't really need to tablet. But man that Cintiq looks amazing!!!
Wait, you didn't mention the Cintiq previously. I change my reply. You definitely need a pen and tablet. LOL.
LMAO! Yeah when I watched the video about MS5 I think they were using that CintiqHD tablet and I almost fell out of my chair! Problem is that with every DAZ sale I get farther and farther away from being able to afford one of those! LOL
