I recently did some work on my comp trying to change the user name and it made a big mess. The biggest impact seems to be on DAZ and its content. After getting rid of the other "users" I can no longer access my scenes via the Content Library. I can open them via the File>Open...>(folder holding scenes).

During the changing of users I had to run DAZ under Run As Administrator.

At one point i had lost most of my content, but ran the DIM first uninstalled everything and then reinstalled it. This seemed to take care of all other content.

The other part of it is now there is more content showing in my library, but under different folders (one for DAZ content/ the other for Poser). I don't know what has prompted this. I'm glad it's there, but under DAZ Content the content contained is in little folders and not separated into categories like Cameras, Lights, People, Hair and the like under Poser Content.

I have run CCleaner with the thought it might help bring the scenes back to the Content Library, but that hasn't worked.

I am running Win7 with DAZ3D 4.6Pro 64bit.

Also, should all the DAZ Content be in the Smart Content or should it be organized into the smaller folders with no general grouping? For that matter how is the content of DAZ 4.6Pro organized properly? I understand how the Runtime Folders for DAZ are organized but not since 4.

What you are seeing is correct.

There should be a Poser Formats AND DAZ Studio Formats in the Content Library. The Poser Formats content is held in a Poser Runtime folder called 'runtime' in the library that you have designated as your DS content library folder, usually 'My DAZ 3D Library' if you used the DIM to install everything. Poser Formats has it's own structure, and it has to be that way, so that DS can find the related files (textures, geometry etc)).

DAZ Studio Formats does not need to be in any particular order, but there is one file in the My DAZ 3D Library that is very important for opening scenes, and it is called 'data'. You should never change anything in the data folder. If you don't have a folder called 'Scenes', then you can create one yourself, and put all of your scene files in there, it should then appear in the Content Library in the DS Formats area as 'Scenes'.

Smart Content is a different matter. SC relies on Metadata, and the CMS (Content Management Service) to be running. Not all items will appear in Smart Content, but if you look in the DIM, all Installed items that have a 'tick' or checkmark beside them have Metadata, and should appear in Smart Content.

You can also use Categories to sort your content, and you can arrange it in whatever way you like. It does not move anything on the HDD, but creates a database entry for your categories.

    EDIT:

There are also several 'stickies' at the top of this New Users Forum which are there to help you. Please have a look through them, and if you have any further questions, please ask.

And we just covered this last week in our art studio thread, on how to create your own categories, and SereneNight did a step by step with screenshots and shows you her setup. If you want to see how easy it is, start here and keep reading. :)

JIMMY_C: Which Data file should I put it in? There's at least three that I know of.

Sorry if there was a sticky that I missed but I didn't see any that seem to fit the problem I was having.

NOVICA: I will work on organizing the folder more. I've just got to figure out the proper configuration of the DAZ 4.6 content.
