Carrara 8.5 Installation and Content Installation

First of all i have searched what seems the whole of the internet and there seems such different advice that i am about delete ANY Carrara product / content i have purchased, as it really has started to drive me mad.

I have been using Daz for a while now, over the years purchasing . car files but NEVER been able to use them successfully. Reading about Carrara 8.5, I thought at last my problem would be solved, even though i am using a Mac.

All i want to do is install Carrara and its content on my Mac so i can access the files in Daz. Carrara 8.5 was brought for me as a gift, so i cant use Install Manager (or so i understand).

I have my Daz application set up as follows:

/Applications/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4 64-bit

My Product Library set up as follows on an external drive:

/Volumes/My Library/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library

ANY help would be appreciated and I thank you in advance for looking.

    Hello,

    I know this might disappoint you a great deal, but ..car-files works only in Carrara and won't be usable in DAZ Studio. You cant export them out in any resonable way either as they depend on Carrara instances, trees and shaders.
    Carrara can use DAZ Studio and Poser content though, but it is not the other way around.

    Unfortunately the DAZ 3D store does not support buying applications or content for others - your friend needs to open a suport ticket to request a refund, though they could ask if Sales can use the refund to "buy" a copy of Carrara and assign it to your account, or send it in the form of a GC code that you could then redeem and use to buy a copy for yourself. We do apologise for the inconvenience this is going to cause, but it will mean you end up with Carrara and its serial number in your own account

    Thank you both for taking the time to reply.
    It certainly explains things LOL.
    Not to worry. Will continue to use Daz for my character work and then use Carrara for scenes etc.
