How can I do this...

Hi Folks,

I'm a totally newbie here. I'm a writer (or will be once my books get finally published), and I'm attempting to be able to make my own covers. What I would like to create is a dragon winged male and female, and cat people.
I've had a look at what products are available and haven't been able to find what I need.
(Yes, I know there are 3 or more cat people bundles, but I'm not happy with the faces.)
Do I need to make my own? If I do, am I able to put animal parts on the human genesis characters?
If not, what product should I be looking at using?

All replies appreciated.

You're right. There are a LOT of cat people as well as wings that fit on people AND dragon morphs for people.

You could make your own. This was possible even before genesis. I'm a Poser user who's still in a snit that DAZ hasn't created a next gen character I can use So I can't address genesis further than that.

But here are some questions that will get you moving in the right direction.

What kind of cat people? Human head with a few cat features? or a more complete cat head? How "cartoony"? Hands & feet? Tail?

    Hi Pwiecek,

Okay, not Cartoony at all. Proper Cat features on a human face. The nose can still be used, but needs to be more cat like than human like.
The wings I need, need to be proper dragon wings, (Like on the dragon which comes with the start up download), not feather wings. The cat people have hands and feet, but need to be able to have a small amount of fur or no fur, but colourings (Tabby, siamese) needed, and be able to be longhaired or shorthaired.
I'm playing with a couple of cat bundles and Millennium cat at the moment, just to get the hang of them. I need to be able to make longhairs like the Maine Coon and Ragdoll and Birman.

    Thanks bigh,

It looks promising. Now I just have to have a read through and try to get my head around what they're saying.
    Thanks heaps for the link.

    There is this

    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-creature-creator-heads
    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-creature-creator-bodies
    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-creature-creator-bundle

Which will help with morphing the Genesis figure.

Wings are slightly more difficult. This Character includes Bat wings http://www.daz3d.com/popobawa-for-genesis which are geografted to genesis.

Or you could use something like these, which should be usable with Genesis, although designed for the gen 4 figures.

    http://www.daz3d.com/night-wings

Others may know of some other wings that would suit a dragon.

Hair there is either the one that bgh mentioned http://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=garibaldi&x=4&y=6
or http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair which also has a free player http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair-free-player which uses presets that others have made.

Thanks for that Chohole, I appreciate you looking for them. I had found the bat wings, and they are different to what I need.
I do like your other suggestions though.
    Thanks again.

You can just use the Dragons wings. Turn off all of the Dragon except the Wings, then scale them to the proper size to fit your figure. The only draw back is they will not merge or stay in place. You would need to Pose the wings every time you posed the character.

Thanks Jestmart, Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. :-)
    Scott-Livingston, thanks for the suggestion.
Jaderrail, Excellent. Not an idea I would have thought of at all.

Now I just have to put the Creature Creater bundle on my watchlist for next purchase.
Thanks everyone for going to the trouble to find me the answers and the different ways of doing something.
This is a wonderful forum for help.

I second that. I'm really finding myself needing to see these creatures when you have them ready.

Thanks. I'll try to do everything justice, but like I said at the start, I'm a very new user. :-)

    Just a few random facts

A lot of cat people were based on Aiko 3 because there is a free set of morphs that are more toward the human end of the spectrum. The website says its for Capsces Kioki, but it works on A3 just as well.

    http://www.capsces.com/capframe.htm

There are also a lot of A3/V3/M3 cat textures. Mostly big cats but some domestic breeds also.

Melody might not be too cartoony for you. Also based on Aiko 3 but with a more animal head and a tail.

Melody 2 is just a head and V4 body textures.

Peaches and Pickles, based on cookie & chip are toons.

in general, animal textures survive texture converter very well.

Just a few random facts continued.

One of my favorite uncommon touches is a ruff of fur at the chest. A definite plus if you're going for cute rather than menacing. I know of four:

    Melody/Micah by LLF at RDNA

    Cookie/Chip/Peaches/Pickles by LLF at RDNA
Peaches/Pickles also includes a face ruff

    Plushies by LLF at RDNA

Melody 2 by LLF unpublished but discussed in the RDNA Forums. This looks like its (hopefully) going to be a more involved product with some hair like appendages.

Melody/Cookie Ruffs look like they might be the same mesh. The plushies is definately a different mesh. All 3 survive CrossDresser/Wardrobe Wizard pretty well All 3 of these are smooth and require some kind of texturing.

Finally, this is Scampixie's ears on Aiko 3 head. I did this with cross dresser. Definately needs some work with magnets, but its a start.

    Lovely ideas Pwiecek.
I'll have a look at these this afternoon when I get home from work. I know I have the Aiko 3, so I'll have a look for the others.
    Thanks for being so helpful.
I bought the Creature bundle last night, still have to download it.
(I could send myself broke very easily. So many nice creations, so little money.)
