Bryce 7 sky animations

I want to control a slowly changing sky from black to white out. I started with a complete black backdrop and no ground plane and one object. In the animations I advanced the keyframes a few frames and added a keyframe. the I advanced the key frame about 5 seconds and changed the sky. Each time I do this the sky sky changes retroactively so that when I rewind to the previous frame it has changed. How can I get bryce to only change going forward?

    Both the Sky and Material animations (which are both the same animal with different skins) need to be handled a little differently due to long-standing bugs since Bryce 6.1.

    The best process for the first 2 keyframes in a sky animation is as follows:

    1) Set up your sky at the beginning of the animation at frame 0. While still in the Skylab, add a keyframe.
    2) Shuttle forward to a timepoint, ANY timepoint, and add another sky keyframe. Then make a deliberate change, like sky color. Add the keyframe again, just to be sure.
    3) Go back to the first keyframe. Has it changed to the new sky you've just changed? If so, reset the value it was previously, and re-add the start keyframe.

    After that, you should be able to use Auto key or manual add for additional keyframes without having to go back and forth to check if previous keyframes have changed.

    If you which to adjust the position of the second timepoint, enter the AML and move it there.

    Unfortunately that did not work. It changed to some random sky that doesn't look like any thing I created. But it is useful to know it is a know bug. Wish I had known that about eight hours ago.

    Then:

    a) Bryce 7's animation facilities are even more retarded than the version I use, Bryce 6.3, or;
    b) You're not following instructions correctly. Because I just followed my instructions to the letter, and I got the sky changing color and the sun rising.

    So... What are you not telling me? :)

    The AML is the Advanced Motion Lab. If you'd like to read up about it in the Bryce Manual... You can't, because no-one's bothered to write it. Check out the Bryce 6.3 manual. Nothing about it has changed.

    Oh, there were several that bothered to write, whole parts of it, spending weeks for version 7.0 and 7.1, but DAZ has never finalised it and it is therefore still a WIP.

    My apologies, Horo.

    There were times when I've been driven by sheer frustration to write my own manual for animation, but there's next-to-no demand for animation, and really, manuals aren't appropriate for instruction on animation: it's a video course.

    I'm aware of that and that's why I'm happy that you pop in here to help the animators.
