Help [ Merge Character Dress ] (Solved.)

edited September 2013 in New Users

Hello friends, Problem this.

In fact. The real problem does not move Unity outfit. The real problem is. The character is moving, But the dress is not moving. I watched a lot of video, I think that's the problem.

- I'm sorry, my English is bad.

2 [ ]

Is it possible to merge bone system outfit with the character? The problem as you can see in the picture.

Hip(bones) merged, the problem will be completely resolved.

But, merge? how can that be?

TR :

    Hello there,

I'm not sure i understand what you want to do. Do you want to fit a dress to the genesis figure so that it moves along when the genesis figure moves?
If so, just select genesis in your scene tab and then load the dress, it will fit to the genesis figure automatically. Some dresses use additional morphs or bones to pose the dress though. It might be handy if you post a screenshot of the dress.
There is no need to use weightmaps, unless you are trying to make the dress yourself (or edit an older dress). Is that what you want to do? That will be more difficult to explain quickly.

    Cheers,
    Elele.

Just so you understand, Genesis IS weight mapped and you can not add more to it. You need to do as Noted above and make your Dress a Genesis item.

I'm afraid i don't know anything about unity3d. It seems to be a game engine. I don't know if the genesis rigging (and the fitting of clothing) will work in unity. Maybe some one else will come along with more usefull info. You could change the title of your thread to "genesis in unity3D" or something like that.

PS: I think it can't hurt to add a translation in your language. Maybe you will get lucky twice and someone will come along that can help you in your language :D

    Cheers,
    Elele.

Yes, the Unity 3D game engine.

But yet, "daz" or "unity" A person who knows does not exist, In our country.
To be honest, I'm one of them. :D That's the only problem. Let's see, what will happen? :)

I don't use Unity3D, but I found a tutorial on the DAZ forum archive which may be helpful.

I think the problem is that the clothing is not conformed to Genesis. This is just a guess, but you may need to fit the clothes to Genesis in DAZ Studio before exporting. It seems what you have to do is "write a script which parents the bones of the clothing items with the base mesh parent." I have no idea how to do this--but if you check sites or communities that focus on Unity3D you may be able to find this information there.

As most users here are 3D artist and not game makers I'm not so sure many can help with this. Many of us do not export things to game engines. I for one have NO Clue.

As of conforming, when you click on the outfit, in Parameters Tab, there will an option "Fit to" - choose Genesis. Try this. It looks like the clothes are loaded separately and that is why they do not follow the figure's moves.

I thought about it. But unfortunately, not the solution.

I need the bones to merge.

You don't say how you are exporting the clothes for Unity, but FBX has an option to merge clothes with the skeleton - have you tried that? If that doesn't help, you may need to ask on the Unity forums.

I use Daz3D Characters as standins while I work on the Low Poly models for my Unity Game and for NPC's.

I looks like your Export settings could be wrong for this type of situation.

Always use merge skeletons option if doing a Collada Export. Always include animations and morphs.
