Which program do I use?

I am looking into making an animation video/DvD and I'm stuck in the middle of the ocean without a compass. I have no experience in 3D animation and would like to start with something simple that will eventually allow me to make professional videos. Here is my criteria for what the program must do:

1. Educate me in the basics of 3D animation.
2. I would like it to come in a hard copy.
3. The characters must talk.

    Have you seen this comparison? You might find it useful in figuring out which software best suits your needs. If "hard copy" refers to a physical copy on a CD or DVD, I don't think DAZ 3D offers those. But you could always burn one, once you've downloaded the files.
