Trouble with Daz morph import

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hi. In the past, I had problems with Goz, and got an alternative here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/26002/ . Until today's evening, I could import every morph file for my character. Now, every time I import, I got the error:Error, could not load geometry from file. What could I do? No settings were changed. Even older morphs than earlier worked, now give the same error.

Is there a way to reset morph loader pro so it can accept morphs again?

Without knowing what's gone wrong that's hard to say - could you post a screen shot of your MLP settings, with a morph ready to load and its options expanded.

This is the screenshot. I have discovered that using Morph Loader advanced, with the same preset ,(Mondo), the morph loads, but not properly. The cloth does not scale to fit the character, as in case of Morph loader pro. Should I reinstall Daz? In this picture it seems that there are 2 Daz oppened but there is in fact 1, this is due to the way of taking printscreen(Paint).

Well, the Modo preset should give 10,000% not a 100% as in your screen shot so that may be an issue - I had that too, switching to another preset and then back again fixed it. If you click the little arrow next to the morph name in the lower panel of the dialogue that will show the other options being applied.

I did that. It is still not working. The scale resets everytime.

Uninstalled Daz from manager, reinstalled, and got the same thing.

Those settings look right as they are - are you saying the scale resets to 100% and the morph shrinks the clothing if you then import it?

  • edited December 1969

The screen shows the settings I applied as you said. If I click accept, even if the scale is right, I got the same error. When I try again to add the morph, the window shows me 100 instead of 10 000. If I change the preset again and got 10 000 then click accept, the process repeats. That was with Morph loader pro.(I can't even load the morph)

The cloth shrinking happens only when I try to add the morph with morph loader advanced. In that case...yes, the morph loads properly but the clothes don't fit anymore. I

There isn't already a morph with the same name loaded? What happens if, in Morph Loader Pro, you right click on Make Unique near the bottom of the settings for the morph and seelct Replace Deltas?

  • edited December 1969

Even if I load Deltas only or Deltas and Erc links, I get the same error. I think there might be a way by importing a morph properly trough morph loader advanced. I need an option such as autofit, so the clothes to fit properly. Do you know what should I do?

Autofit has nothing to do with importing morphs - all the settings you need should be there. Could you walk through your workflow, using a very simple morph, to make sure there are no errors.

Well...here is what is my workflow: I have a character in Daz. Since Goz doesn't work for me(http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/26002/ ), Slosh suggested me to use morphs. I export that character from Daz in OBJ mondo format, having care to set the lowest subdivision level and resolution to base. I make my changes in Zbrush, then I export from it the character as obj. I open Daz studio again but this time I load Genesis. Using Morph Loader Pro, I import the morph in OBJ Mondo format, then pull the slider to 100 and preview the character with texture. If I am not satisfied, I pull the slider back to 0 then import a modified version of that character morph.

Until a few days, everything worked fine. Now, even if I load older morphs (lets say instead of Sara 16 , loaded Sara 1) , that a few days ago worked fine, I got the same error. So I can conclude that it is not the fault of the morph, it is the fault of Morph loader pro itself. Something broke down while morphing. Now I wonder how could I fix Morph loader Pro or how to reset/clean uninstall Daz so Morph Loader Pro could work again. What should I do for a full reset? Uninstalling and reinstalling Daz from Manager didn't solve the problem, so I guess that the manager didn't perform a clean uninstall.

No, uninstalling won't (and shouldn't) remove user files and settings. If you feel brave, and on your own head be it, I think the settings are in the Registry for Windows, not sure what the Mac equivalent would be - HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3262320522-2369192730-53156003-1000\Software\DAZ\Studio4\MorphLoader and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3262320522-2369192730-53156003-1000\Software\DAZ\Studio4\MorphLoaderPro

In the Morph Loader Pro registry folder should I delete all the files except default for reset? What should I delete?

Your error makes me think there is something wrong with your OBJ, to check load it into DS through File > Import and see if DS can load it.

Well..problem eventually solved. Firstly, I imported the character from obj into Daz with mondo preset. It didn't appear into scene. After that, I tried doing this thing again, but with the box Read Material Library( mtl) unchecked. The character appeared in scene. I tried to load the morph via morph loader pro....success. Thanks for your support.
