Placing a pattern on an eye, and getting white circles

Hello, all.

So I need to place a pattern on my model's eye, and while it will show up fine on the Sclera surface, using the Diffuse Color option and placing the texture file there, I get white circles where the Cornea, Iris, and Pupil go.  I want the pattern to cover the entire eye, but nothing I seem to try is working.  I even put the texture on the Cornea, Iris and Pupil, but in the render those parts just show white circles.  Any ideas?

  • You need to put the pattern in alligment of the UV of the eye.

To expand on that answer a bit, it’s possible that your texture pattern isn’t aligned properly with where/how the iris, cornea, etc are looking for it in the texture file. What you might want to do is to make a copy of one of the sets of files used for an eye material (I.e. grab a copy of all the diffuse color files) and then edit your texture into those copied files and apply them, rather than trying to apply your texture “from scratch.” That way, you’ll have your pattern in the correct area(s) of each texture file.

One thing you’ll see, for example, is that the “scale” of the textures is rather different - the sclera files and the iris files are usually around the same dimensions size-wise, but the iris is physically smaller. So you may have to adjust your texture scaling accordingly.
