Modeling advice? (Yes, my library is STILL working!)
Hi guys. Hoping I have the right section again!
I'm working on the 3D model of my main character. And so far... it's... okay.... but there are some things I seem to be lacking in the ability to do. I'll attach the current model where it.. aah... stands.
His head is too fat. I told the settings face thing, etc, but the head is just too fat. I need it to be, well, thinner on the sides.
The eyes are too round. My male characters, when I draw them, tend to have more rectangle-ish eyes. How can I get these eyes to be more square?
I hate the hair, so don't worry. I know it looks terrible. I haven't found any hair of the right shape though. Everyone wants to make all these fancy hair-dos and all I want is some simple plain hair. Toon hair a plus.
And the lighting: I just stuck something in there at random so it's not great and I know it.
Tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are you talking about tweaking it in DAZ, or making your own morphs?
The latter is not as scary as it sounds, and scaling and simple changes like making the eyes square would be a good beginner's project. There is free (blender) and cheap (hexagon) software that allows you to do this relatively painless.
Guess I should have said, huh. Sorry about that.
I want to keep it in DAZ. I do know a little about d-formers, but I'm just plain terrible at them. I load one up and I work and work for HOURS just to get the right pixels red and they never turn red. In some cases none of the pixels light up at all. I've even watched a youtube tutorial and btw I HATE video tutorials. Give me text, please? sighs
And I don't think d-formers will thin the face out the way I want. My first instinct is simply to select the head and go into size and put the right x or y size setting to 90%. But with Genesis I don't seem to be able to do that.
I'm not really up to learning a whole new program right now, though! That would require I export him and then he would no longer be a Genesis model when I was done. He really needs to stay as much of a dialup character as I can make him.
I never figured out how to use d-formers, they seem to be a very annoying and slow way of doing things.
He'd still be genesis after exporting. You are not creating a brand new model but a morph shape you can load up in DAZ and apply to genesis:
This is the result of sending to hexagon, tweaking around for 2 minutes, sending back, creating morph and quick render.
It's rough, but you can see how quick it is... Whole process took about 5 minutes, and I'm very new at this.
I'm interested in learning how to distribute content, so if you don't need to do it yourself send me a PM and I'll help you out with some morphs :)
Wow I guess that was fast. LOL
I'd love to be able to export my tweaks so that they're just morphs. Right now I have them saved as character settings, and to be able to have them for free download so readers could play with them if they want to would be nice. But right now you'd have to have all of the installed parts I have to use them. I guess I'll need to save up to get Hexagon. But in the meantime I'll PM you. LOL
