Why use Carerra over Daz Studio?

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the 3D rendering scene, and have been dabbling with Daz Studio off and on since version 3. And I do mean dabbling, as literally years would go by between my attempts. So, my question is what are some reasons you should use Carrera over Daz Studio? With the new release out, I am wondering if I should take advantage of the sale, or if Daz Studio is the better option for me. Thanks!

Rich

Depends on what you want to achieve. The focus of DS is on posing figures and scene creation for mostly static renders. Carrrara. Is a Whole integrated 3-d creation and rendering/animation suite. Petty much can do it all with Carrara from scratch if you want. For example there is no modeling or painting capability in DS.

    Hi Dream Cutter,

Thanks for the reply. So when you sat Carerra "Whole integrated 3-d creation," does that mean that you can create new figures from scratch? Like the Makehuman project http://www.makehuman.org/ ? Thanks again!

You can create models, props, etc.
    You can animate.
    You can design terrain.

I suggest giving Carrara a try. I used to be a Daz hardcore user, but once I tried Carrara, I never looked back.
